Well I bought the parking mode switch and I have it wired to a soft button on my DVD headunit.

This way I can lock it in park-mode without any obvious switch on my console.

That’s good and all, but it’s only to fool a LEO if the need ever presents itself. Not really useful to me as an actual parking sensor.

How do you wire in the parking aid manual switch? Did you get the dual or the quad? If you got the dual which ports did you plug your heads into?

I have the dual and I’m using ports 2 and 3. The ports along with most everything else can be changed with the LI Communicator.

Like I said, I bought the PA/JAM switch from LI but it’s basically just bridging two pins in the RS232 port.

I disabled the initial parking mode with the LI Communicator because I can just turn it on and off with my parking mode switch.

OK Cool. I didn't mess with the programming yet. Just left it default and installed the LI. I was asking cause at first I found if I hooked my heads up any other way I would get a "connection to port X is bad" or whatever. I may have to play around with the programming. It's just such a pain to reach my CPU to program. If you have the parking aid switch that goes in the RS232 is there a passthrough if say I wanted to leave my serial-usb adapter connected for easier access for programming?

Pyrofallout, any pics? Be sure the bubbles on each LI head are on the outside.

Bubbles on outside eh? I'll have to go flip one side then. I put them both same direction. The exterior installation isn't pretty, so no pics just yet. I really do not want to start screwing til I have some idea of how placement is working out for me. There was no easy sturdy way to mount them level in your suggested area without screwing them in, so for now the heads are ziptied to the grill at the very bottom as far towards the outside as possible (yes they are tight and sturdy, and yes they are level ) as far as interior installation goes you can see nothing but the switch, which i drilled and put in the dash near the steering wheel. the only problem is the speaker in the CPU is way to quiet, even on max, so being its hidden makes it even worse. Going to have to find a way to wire those external speaker wires to maybe share my powered escort external speaker with my radar cause I'm am running out of freaking room behind my dash!

Pyro, just purely out of curiosity – Did you read the directions and labels before you installed?

I’m only wondering because mine had a yellow sticker that said to only use ports 2 & 3 and if you look at the diagram in the manual it shows how the heads should be oriented.

I do think that the documentation COULD have been a little more thorough for ‘everyone’.

Anyway, what kind of car are you installing on?

I hooked up the mute wire on mine so it pulls down the stereo volume and makes it easy enough to hear even with the ‘CPU’ down next to the steering column under the dash panel.

Have you checked to see if your audio equipment has that functionality?

Yes i read the manual before install, although it's certainly possible I was over eager to install and may have missed something. I did not
see the sticker your reffering to. The only yellow stickers I remember
seeing were the laser warning stickers on the heads.

My radio does have the mute wire option, but I had to move that pin in the harness for the parking brake bypass, so I will need to order a new harness from eBay if i want to try that.

I do agree on the documentation though. When I was looking for
an answer on the port 2,3 thing I went back and looked through the manual again and did not see a mention of having to use ports 2-3.

Here are some pics of my install.

The car is dirty and the pics are from a cell phone. It's the best I can get for now.
