Your last 40 miles or so don't have any more mountains. But I think there's construction there now, so the fun never stops....
I forgot to mention there's no laser either. I think we have to keep our speed timing devices simple enough to be built in an Amish workshop or something.
No, they didn't. But everyone hauls ass there and if they pulled over everyone going 75 they would miss everyone going 85...
Obviously you can't go 80 in a 55, but 65-70 should be alright if there's enough traffic you don't stick out.
I/O does suck, but a long trip is the perfect opportunity to develop your rabbit baiting skills!
Most of the PSP on the turnpike have 80mph in a 65mph as their threshold. If there is not much traffic (cars ahead of me will usually get me an instant on K band alert on my V1) or I feel the police may be around, i go 78 or 79mph.
I can also attest to the perceived 80 MPH threshold. As far as I have been able to tell, PSP won't look at you unless you're going higher than 80. However, as always, I am sure this is dependent on the officer.
Watch out for the low-power K band guns too, they scare me.
Growing up in Pa, I never knew there was no Laser? Is there a good reason for this?
Keep k band on while in PA. Some on here, have found various officers testing out ka band in PA also, so keep ka band on (for your safety). I did encounter numerous k band speed signs in PA. I encountered one 34.7 ka band speed sign going W-bound on I-76 near New Stanton PA. I did also encounter one x band speed sign going N-bound on I-70 between Maryland and I-76. Watch out as a friend of mine witnessed a York city cop using x band radar. Hope this info helps.
