Default Need some advise on detector positioning/protection

    Hi,

I just bought a 2007 Bandit 1250 and want to equip it with state of the art electronics. I have the hard cases (top and sides) coming and can use them for electronics if need be.

I think I'll go with an autocom super pro avi rider kit. (don't know the highest power radio that will work with it). Any thoughts on this?

For the detector, I've always loved Escorts. I have the ZRX system in my car with laser shifting and love it.

If I go with a passport (9500i), how do you folks keep it dry? And what mount would you recommend?

Has anyone mounted a laser shifter on a bike? Would it be helpful? Or is it overkill.

Is it possible to hard wire the escort, wire it into the Autocom and use a visual display of some sort in my helmet to alert me? Any thoughts or recommendations?

I'm sure some of this is overkill but I LOVE electronics. I'd like to have the ability (though I won't always use it) to possibly hook my Treo 700p to my Garmin Zumo 550, t hrough bluetooth, the garmin into the Autocom, hook up an Ipod as well plus the radar detector.

Any other thoughts on how to do what I'm trying to do here would be most appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Kenrick

Yes you can hardwire it on a bike.

At the low end you can keep it dry with a ziploc bacg and rubber band but there are cases like a Radar Box or a Thermoshell.

Techmount and Ram make some geat mounts but you can also use industrial strength velcro on your brake resevoir.

My own opinion I'd go V1 or Sti. If you read the other forums you'll get lots of info.

Hi, I use my Treo 650 with my Zumo 550. It's simple enough to connect. First I added the Zumo to my Treo and designated it as a "car kit" as opposed to headset. After that, go to the setup menu (the wrench icon) and go to Bluetooth options. Choose Add a phone, have it search for your treo, the code will be 1234 by default. To get your Treo Phone Book on your zumo you will need to go to your contact list and make sure you're in the "ALL" category. Go to your menu of options and choose the "Send" option to send your contact list VIA Bluetooth to your zumo, Once it's been sent, restart the Zumo. If you have trouble with sending your phone book to the Zumo, after your zumo has been initially paired with your Zumo. turn your zumo on, and before your phone links to the Zump, go to your contacts and quickly send your contact list.

    Thanks Ben.

Well, I put everything I wanted on the bike and it kicks a$$. I have the 8500 x50 on it for now, Zumo 550, Blinder M25 Extreme and it's all wired to an Autocom AVI Superpro. We're getting great range on the Kenwood radios as well.

My Treo 700p connects just fine and I'm absolutely loving it. It seems I can get any phone number that's in my speed dial list but not my whole contact list (which isn't to bad).

The Autocom took lots of messing with to dial in, but the quality is really amazing. I can easily talk with my wife at 80+ mph, and a mile or so apart in the mountains.

You're welcome. I had gotten the Scala Rider Teamset. The volume could be better but it's managable. Since you're only getting some numbers and not your whole phone list you will need to send your contact list as I explained previously. Then you'll have the whole thing. Just keep in mind any new contacts you add wont appear in the list unless you send those contacts over to your Zumo individually through the bluetooth, or remove the phone, re-add it, and resend your entire contact list. Good luck with everything

Xbox is coming. I think I've got a spare side case with enough room. LOL

So Ben, once I send the contacts, will they stay in the Zumo or each time I connect, will I have to do it again?
