(and other RD-Motorcycle considerations)
How are you mounting the RD?
On handlebar
Mount up from tank
On top of gauges
Under windscreen
On my elbow
Other?
How will you see/hear the RD?
I can see it in my field of view
I ride a really quiet motorcycle really slow with no wind noise, I can hear it fine
I listen via an earplug/helmet speaker
I patched the RD in with my music player
I use the H.A.R.D. visual alert device
I use an external speaker to make the RD louder
I use Cheetah's VizAlert
I use some bright lights/LEDs that shine up from the RD
How will you protect the RD from the elements/rain?
I remove it when I see the storm clouds a-comin'
I put a sandwich bag over it
I have a mounted cover for it
I have a GoldWing with a convertible top, air conditioning, and 30" LCD TV
I don't ride in bad weather
How do you power the RD?
Hardwire to the battery, I have to disconnect the RD when done
I use a BMW-type plug for it
Hardwired, but with an inline switch
I use a cigarette-lighter-type plug
Hardwired to an ignition-on-only circuit so it shuts off automatically when the key is off
Batteries. Lots and lots of batteries.
What other countermeasures are you looking at?
Laser/LIDAR jammer
CB radio
Not having Sammy Hagar's I Can't Drive 55 on the MP3 player
Veil on the bike...and maybe on the helmet...and maybe some on the seat of my pants
Escort Live (with gloves..and mounting the iPhone)
Some piece of junk radar "jammer/hider/dephuzer/absorber" that I saw on late night TV
Trapster (maybe running on an iPad while you ride the bike?)
A rabbit - preferably a 1977 Special Edition Pontiac Trans Am driven by a dude with an awesome 'stache
A SureCheck TPAS RX-100 to detect transponder aircraft (the CAS-67A TCAS II was a bit too pricey)
What kind of bike?
A totally cool cruiser that makes young women faint and sets off car alarms when I ride by
A rad rice rocket that reaches Warp Factor 5 and back to the speed limit..all while I'm on the onramp
An adventure bike that can go anywhere I want
A giant luxury-liner-touring bike with a built-in refrigerator, Sat-TV, and Internet
A 1971 Honda CB750 getting back to some roots of the modern bike
