    I don't think a 5-watt solar panel is enough to power a laptop and radio for long and keep the battery from dying...

    Prolong the life of the battery sure, but not run it for hours on end daily.

    It'd be better to install deep cycle batteries and larger alternators. Or install multiple batteries and run the electronic equipment off of those and have the solar panel charge those when the vehicle is parked.
