A few years back I got a notice for an unpaid parking ticket from a town I'd never been to. So I called them, and they pulled up the ticket, and found that it had been issued to a car that was the same as mine, same plate number, but MA instead of NH. Talk about a crazy coincidence. They took care of it for me, which was nice.

It's just more proof that cameras can be right, but the stupid people who review them can be wrong.
Look at it this way, who really reads every detail every time they look at something? I don't think anyone can say they do. The chances of someone looking at a photo and randomly thinking a plate is local vs. reading the plate live would make the number of errors lower.
