No Alerts on Mirror from STi Driver

Hello ALL,
Just purchased an RDI from Cheetah (UK) post ramp up fix, for my STi Driver.
Followed the instructions for setup as per install kit. ie PowerOn FST, Voice OFF etc.
Link indication appears on GPS Mirror but no visible or audio alert with K or Ka alert.
I have sent an email to Cheetah support a few days ago, but no reply yet.
Has anyone had similar experience?? If so any pointers??
Both the mirror and interface are brand new so I guess warranty is no problem
but which unit is faulty??? Any assistance appreciated!!

Kinda surprised you didn't get a reply yet, the guys are pretty good at jumping all over emails. possible it got lost in cyberspace?

anyway, let's see if we can narrow it down.

first, to confirm, you do have the newer STI that has the new ramp up?

if its an old STI you'd need the old STI kit.

if that's okay, have you adjusted the STI volume per the instructions?

Are you testing stationary or driving?

reason i ask is check that the audible alert speed is at 0 for now.
hit button 1 once and see that it's zero, if not change it. otherwise it auto mutes alerts below that threshold so things like parking lots are nice and quiet.


try these and let me know.
oh, also make sure the headphone jack is fully seated, and that the other end is in he radar plug, not the power plug.

Thanx for the prompt reply and to answer your checkpoints: Yes, my Sti has the ramp up fix
and I did order the RDI for the Post Ramp Up detector (and the box it came in says it is). I have checked the speed alert and it is at "0". It doesnt matter if I am moving or parked up, no alerts, and the volume on the STi is set for about 75% full scale. I know the audio jack on the STi works because I have run the external speaker on it prior to purchasing the Cheetah Mirror.
I have tried parking near a known K source and adjusting the audio plugs slightly, no joy.
I have triple-checked all of my settings on the Mirror and RD, even sent my RD back to scratch with a factory reset, and changed only the settings mentioned for the RDI interface.
Once again, thanx for the reply and if you have any other points to check I will be more than grateful for your assistance.

Sounds like your volume level is wrong. Shouldn't be 75%.

Sorry for the delay in posting this reply, have been away from home for a few days.
I have rechecked the volume level following your reply, just seeing if slight adjustment
either way made any difference. But sadly no.
Cheetah support UK contacted me again, just before my trip away, and advised me that
they have dispatched a replacement RDI, which should arrive in a week or so.
I just hope that it is the RDI at fault and not the mirror.
Again, will keep you posted on the outcome and thanks for your input.

It won't be the mirror. It only relays whatever wireless transmissions it's receiving from the STI-driver interface.

Al,
Hi and thanks for your input in trying to resolve my problem with the STi Driver
and the GPS Mirror. My comment about "I hope it is not the Mirror" came from I
bought the Mirror and RDI at the same time.
The mirror I bought from the US and the RDI was purchased direct from Cheetah UK
They were the only ones I could see that differentiated the two interface modules with
the pre and post "Ramp up fix" for the STi Driver .
It may be the RDI is sending the info to the mirror, the link indicator is displayed on the mirror,
but maybe the mirror is not decoding the different signals for each radar and laser detected signal.
Does this sound logical??

Hi one and all, The replacement RDI, sent to me under warranty, arrived from Cheetah today.
Connected the unit up to the detector and it works fine, just like in the video clips I ve seen.
Thanks to all who had input into my queries over the past few weeks.
I have decided to power the RD up separately and not from the interface. I am still using the remote control unit mounted on top of the steering column, that way I can mute the alarm when I want and have a visual right in front of me when the RD alerts. Only the audio from the RD goes to the interface unit.
I am a bit disappointed that the audio ramp up from the Mirror is not the same as the audio ramp up from the detector, after all, that is why I had the fix done in the first place. Maybe the other
attributes/functions of the mirror will make up for this.
Time will tell.
