How can you tell if it is a redlight or a speed cam?

So i live in Houston, and i notice there are a few known red light cameras and they look like the standard boxy style camera. but all over my neighborhood there are cameras on top of the traffic lights, are these red light/speed cams? or just cameras for the dps to view?

The little cameras that you see are just surveillance cameras. RLCs will be located behind you when you pull up to an intersection.

There are no speedcams at all in TX that I'm aware of.

You can use the trapster trapmap (which may or may not be correct) to ID different camera types then use street view to take a look at them, bear in mind google maps is getting pretty old in some areas and the cams may have been upgraded.

I've also found info on the types of cameras at various intersections through government and other websites.
