As far as bands go leave everything on except ku band (not used in this country), sws (not really utilized anymore) and maybe even pop depending if the pop on falses too much in your area. All the other setting are self explanatory and are up to you and your personal prefferences.
Thanks guys... that is how I'm running it as we speak and so far so good....Again thanks for the help.:)
Hey Active I see you run yours in...
POP OFF, SWS OFF, Ku OFF
Highway with scanning dot
Speck Display, Expert mode in certain areas
Autolearn OFF
Can you elaborate on the reasons you choose the certain features other than the obvious(Pop Off, SWS Off, Ku Off)
I see you run the expert mode in certain areas do you manually turn that off and on and also the HY with scanning dot is that used also used in the city? Again thanks for your time.
Expert mode shows several signals at once, as opposed to just one is the normal bar graph dosplay does. Scanning dot is just a display option when the unit is not actively receiving an alert. It's just a dot that bounces back and forth across the screen, ala KITT from Knight Rider. As far as Autolock is concerned, some here don't feel comfortable letting their RD lock out signals, but prefer to have personal control over what signals get locked out and like to do this manually.
The area I live in has multiple islands. The LEOs that patrol on certain islands use different types of radar although Ka is present on every island. There's one particular island though that has the most K band I encounter (whitch is only about 2-3 LEOs) and when I come off the bridge to this island there's a CVS with an automatic door opener that runs on K band. I don't have this area truelocked, and yes, I switch to expert mode while coming over the bridge.
I do this is because when I used to have my X50 I would always immediatley press the mute button as I got the K alert coming off the bridge. There was multiple times that as I turned left / right at that intersection that the X50 would still display K alert while muted after I got a good distance away from the CVS, where the false alert usualy goes away - but as I got farther and farther down the road I saw a LEO running REAL K band.
I avoid senarios like this from happening again by manualy truelocking out the places I feel safe with, and by turning expert mode on in the appropriate areas.
^^^ And yeah, the scanning dot is just because I think it looks cool.
Whatever you do, don't change your settings via Detector Tools, because there is a bug where it won't alert Red Light Cameras if you save settings from Detector Tools to the detector. Change settings manually via the detector.
You'll know it's fukced up if "Marker Enables" shows "Mod" even though every sub category is listed as "On."
These are the settings I currently use:
Bright: Maximum
Volume: Maximum
Pilot Settings: Speed (Know the GPS is working ;-))
Speed Alert: Off
AutoLearn: On
Meter Options: Expert Meter (I switch back and forth with Spec though)
AutoMute: On
AutoVolume: Off
AutoPower: Off
Units: English
Bands: X off, Ku off, K on, Ka on, Laser on, SWS off
Marker Enables: Default settings (RLC on, Speedcams on, Speedtraps on, Other on).
