Escort 8500 X50 Weak Ka Response Just Started

I have perfect response on my X and K bands, just as they have always been. This detector is 2 years old and I've been in the same town the whole time so I know all the falses and the radar traps.

My Ka just recently started either not working or the LEO's in my area have decided to not run their radars at all anymore, which is highly unlikely.

The Ka still goes off for State Troopers on the Highway but not near as much ramp up as I used to get the past 2 years. I'm in TX if that matters. I'm wondering if it's possible for just one band (Ka) to get messed up somehow but still alert a little bit? Like I said, if I was sure the detector was broken I would just send it in and pay the 60 bucks, but it still goes off every once in a while, but I pass a lot of LEO's lately with no signal and this is definitely not the norm the past two years...

Send it in with 60 bucks or keep my faith in it?

It's Rev 6.1 build date 4406, got it from Best Buy.

Hardwired high left RVM, EXP mode with POP and laser off.

Do you ever run your X50 in speck mode? If so what Ka's do they use? (33.8,34.7, 35.5)

You may have just encountered a LEO running 35.5, it's very directional, deadly radar that's hard to detect. I know my X50 didn't do so well on it, even though mine was a Rev. 5.

RD's can go out of tune, so you might need to send it in to escort.

I had an X50 where I swore Ka band did not work at all ....

I have run it in Spec mode and I saw 34.7 from the Stalker from the Motorcyle LEO's and the 33.8 from the LEO patrol cars. I am still picking up both of these radars just not near as sensitive or even at all I think in some cases. Is there any way to test Ka?

Buy a gun or find a Ka speed sign.

Another suggestion: It is possible that the LEO's are starting to use I/O with their units?

Possible, but not probable. It's not a very large city.

Try a hard reset.

Already tried that with no luck.

Does anyone know if Escort will up mine to Rev 6.3 if I send it in or how long it will take?

I asked and they could tell me is "We will fix it if it's broken and it will take about 2 weeks". Not sure if they're just saying that or if they have good or bad customer service or what.

Yeah I'd deffinatley send it in. As for it being 6.3 when it gets back, I don't think it will be. I think it stays the same when you get it back.
