Kind of a newbie here. Some of you have said that the V1 is not a good choice for bikes... Why?? $300 vs $500 is not a problem for me.

I currently have an 8500 on my bike, but plan in replacing it with a V1. As long as your V1 is kinda offset to the left or right, I dont see any problem with the rear antenna being blocked.
I am just not a fan of it on a motorcycle, I much prefer (high end)Belscorts units on a bike.
I have used both V1 and numerous Belscorts extensively on my bike.

Tell me why you think this way.
I don't think the V1 is a bad choice for bikes.
But I'm inclined to think that the V1 isn't able to perform to the best of it's unique abilities using the dual antenna layout as the rear antenna would generally have a lousy view of the road behind you if it's mounted in a center location in front of the rider.
The display isn't bright, and you CANNOT change it manually (very big pet-peeve), its rather wide (takes up much of the gauges in my c0ck-pit compared to the slimmer Belscorts), requires its own unique fittings for its microjack 2.5, where across the Belscort line they have the more common size jack 3.5(Ie: CD players etc)... allows you to test and use other belscorts with your set-up... (hold the STi and maybe the 9500i). The arrows have a more difficult time then normal when it comes to being accurate. Just a host of things...
With that said I ride with 2 people who use it on an everyday basis... compared to about 6 Belscort users.
Overall, its up to each individual...
i use a V1 on the busa... i love it.... i have had no issues with the rear facing antenna or the arrows working properly.

I use a V1 on my bike and it works great.
I have also used the X50 blue and it worked fine, but the V1 performed better for me.
I do like the X50 blue display better, it doesn't wash out as much in the sun as the V1 does.
Not a big deal for me I use the Vizalert anyway, but something to consider.
i do use the form fitting radar covers though, so i don't know if they affect the V1 display washing out or not.
Haven't had any issues with radar alerts and the arrows, but Laser can be a bit erratic sometimes on rear shots. definitely a big difference between night and day time on the laser reception though. it picks it up much easier at night. FYI. :)
Oh, a couple of the guys brought up possible issues regarding placement.
my placement is off to the side slightly.
with it centered, it "could" be more of an issue for some.
