Acura TL Type S Install (V1 + Blinders)

So I'm new here and haven't gotten the blinders yet, but I finished hardwiring the V1 a few weeks ago.

V1 is hardwired to the power window fuse, allowing me to kill it by smacking the big power window lock button. I drive through VA a lot and having the detector nearly invisible from the outside (just below the tint strip) as well as being able to instantly kill it (to avoid radar detector-detectors) was a key for me.

Worked well...blew straight past a VA trooper running radar from the median and he didn't even flinch.

The blinder M25's are arriving soon. It's my goal to have them installed as cleanly as possible without degrading the performance. Also ordered a CR8APL8 since running no front plates in NY is pretty risky.

Remote display is wired through the vent and down to the fuse box below. Mute button is within easy reach.

Almost totally invisible from the outside. V1 still detects great behind the strip.

But to me it looks like your detector is pointing at an angle towards the sky. You want it level if not 3-4 degree's pointing down at the hood.

Thanks, it's actually been moved since the picture. The suction cup mount fell down so I repositioned it a bit lower so it's right below the tint strip and level.

Is your factory tint strip that dark?

Yeah thats the factory tint.

i would lower the v1 so it is below the tint strip and make sure it is level but other than that good install

+1 for opinion on placement. Otherwise, fine vehicle and a fine install! :cool:

Nice car and I like the placement of the V1.

Yeah - Like I mentioned I lowered it down so the unit hangs right at the border of the tint strip. No problems with getting coverage.

I'm hoping I'll get enough protection with the blinders and the fake plate. Even a few seconds of warning will be enough. I've been pretty lucky thus far, but I figured I'd like to add some protection. I'm not so sold on the Veil though and I'm not sure how the metallic silver will handle.

I moved my V1 up high above my factory tint strip on my 03 Maxima and didn't notice any decrease in radar reception (store opener test). Will this effect my laser reception for my V1 through the tint? I know it will because it's higher but I'm just wondering about the tint.
