Has Anyone Ever run into Laser on North I 87
I'm taking a trip to Canada and would like to know has anyone ever experience Laser on North I 87. My experience with I 87 the more you start heading North the more radar you will run into. I have always said Laser is useless in upstate NY on I87 because a Trooper is lucky to see 50 cars per HR since Volume of traffic is really low. I cant see a Trooper holding a Laser gun every 10 mins waiting for a car to drive by. Please let me know Thank YOU
Question what are the chances running into Laser on N I 87 (not around Albany, Poughkeepsie, Plattsburgh these are urban places better chance of running into Laser) ?
Re: Has Anyone Ever run into Laser on North I 87
I just did about 300 miles on I-87 through NY a week ago and all I really encountered was C/O 34.7 Ka-Band. No laser.

You'll see mostly Ka and Laser. I've encountered both at night time!
Re: Has Anyone Ever run into Laser on North I 87
I'm in Canada right now and I have to say that I didn't run into any Laser at all only 34.7 or 34.669 (I think). I did have a an alert that was so close I thought he had me but I guess I slow down fast enough. The band was 34.6 something, my Bel STI R alert just in time and my V1 has been doing a great job. I ran into about 10 Troopers 3 no alert 3 pull someone over and the others waiting for speeders. For my trip back home does anyone has any ideas what program I should use for Bel STI R right now I have it set to RDR OFF, 2,5,8 ON , Laser OFF, POP ON, K OFF, X OFF.
I'm starting to think should I turn off POP would that help for better detection with the BEL STI R and also should I turn off program 2, up here its all 34.7. I wont turn off 5 since V1 sucks picking that up and you never know if I run into it.
Thanks for your answers

My friend received a ticket on I87 with radar. Stalker Dual, probably C/O

Hey, well what detector was he using V1 or Bel STIR R or something else ? One thing I have learn in New York City or LI when you here a KA Band Alert doesn't mean it actually radar. But driving upstate when you hear a KA alert that means SLOW DOWN, no matter what because the chances that it is a false is slim to none.

Talking to me? She wasn't using anything. I told her a month ago to get one and she didn't...
Re: Has Anyone Ever run into Laser on North I 87
OO ic ic that sucks, hopefully she will get one now. After the first ticket you start to think about getting one.
Re: Has Anyone Ever run into Laser on North I 87
OO so yeah should I take POP off or leave it on ? I'm just wondering. To see if I have better detection on my Bel STI R. My V1 is actually alerting very close to me BEL STI R. I assume beacsue I have my BEL STI R mounted behind my plastic Grill who knows or it could be that I'm running to detectors at once.

I've been up I-87 North to Quebec twice this summer and I have never encountered Laser. Just KA band from NYSP. One time it was with my Beltronics Vector 985 and I had several saves on the way up and on the way down. Mostly C/O KA band. The second time was with my 40 dollar Whistler 1730 and I was actually quite impressed by it's ability to sniff out KA band It gave just enough warning to slam on the brakes.
There are no KA falses on I 87 north. If the RD alerts KA it's almost always a cop.
