BTW take better pics next time
I know the pics suck but that's the only way it'll show up on camera. I really tried to take clear pictures but those didn't show the scratches. Believe it or not, these were the best 3 out of 10 :o

Yes they appear on ALL 4 heads :)
Re: Question for LI Users!!!
My heads are the same. It will not affect performance. Due to the receiving diode bubble and transmitting diode is on the other side. Everything is A ok

You may need a tripod to get a good one. Looks like you were holding the lens with one hand and holding the camera on the other hand. This can cause blurring of the images because of subtle movements. Your LI should be okey.
Re: Question for LI Users!!!
The minor surface scratches on the Sensor Masks are a normal part of the production process of the plastic IR Composite that the Sensors Masks are made of and will not affect their operation. Indeed, as they are installed in one's grill where they are exposed to rocks, road salt, sand and other road debris which is expected during their life and will cause additional artifacts in the protective masks which again, have no affect on performance whatsoever.

Re: Question for LI Users!!!
mine came that way but they can still JTG even when they are dirty.
Re: Question for LI Users!!!
Should be just fine.
None of my jammer heads - not from LPP, not from Escort, even - arrived "perfect," all showed those kinds of blemishes.
Re: Question for LI Users!!!
Thanks for the info guys! I'm relieved to find out that it's just a part of the production process and like everyone has said, will not affect performance. :cheerful:
Re: Question for LI Users!!!
2 of the 3 photos have the background nicely in focus... :D
Is there no macro setting on the camera?
Re: Question for LI Users!!!
IMO, whether performance is effected by these imperfections is irrelevant.
A new product should be new in every way, without exception.
After all, the items condition is what separates "New" from "Used" and why New items cost more than Used items. right?
What if you decided you wanted to sell your LI without installing it? Good luck selling something as "New" on Ebay if it has glue and scratches all over it.
I would exchange them if I were in your shoes, but that is me. My jammers were flawless out of the box, not even even a finger print.

I know what you mean and I'm glad you understand my concern. This is why I asked if anyone else who ordered the LI brand new had the same thing and it looks they do. I just thought I got a used LI unit from those production blemishes.
What jammers do you have? LI?
Re: Question for LI Users!!!
FWIW my LI setup came without any marks or glue on the heads.
Perhaps my local distributor cleaned them before mailing, I don't know, but from what I've read in this thread I wouldn't be too concerned.

I own a LPP, the LI was not being sold retail yet when I was shopping for a replacement to my Zr3 a while back. I am very intrigued with the LI, I may own someday.
Good luck with your LI, perhaps a conversation with LI customer service will yield a positive solution.

While it is true that "condition" is what separates new from used, "condition" is comprised of many things other than physical appearance. For example, I would be far more concerned with whether the unit had been installed before I would be concerned about whether it was scratched.
Physical appearance is usually a good indicator of new / used, but not always...

Clearly you don't understand what I am saying. What I am talking about is getting what you paid for! This is the foundation of being a smart consumer.
You pay a extra premium ($$$) when you buy New items, because they are supposed to be flawless, and obviously, never used.
If you and I both buy the same item, we both pay the same amount of money for it, mine is in perfect condition, but yours is scratched and has glue on it, which one of us has been giped?
Get it?
Re: Question for LI Users!!!
But the LPP was never "perfect" - nor the AL - in the condition that they arrived, either.
There's plenty of people here who can verify that this is part-and-parcel of these products, too. None of my three heads came either without some kind of casting defect (one member here actually found a physical HOLE in his, I don't remember if it was a LPP or AL G8 head).
My ZR3 - from a corporate giant like Escort - wasn't perfect when it arrived.... at least not the jammer heads, despite the protective film over the outer filter/protective lens.
Some here have even taken delivery of new radar detectors from Bel/Escort with the same kind of casing and/or rear "antenna" defect.
If we are to be naysayers of LI, in examining this particular concern, then we need to take the issue up with just about every manufacturer in this industry.

I understood what you were saying completely, and I read the previous posts and I own one. I'm not sure the latter 2 points apply in your case.
ALL of them come with scratches on them. So your whole argument of "that guy got one without scratches for the same price" is completely invalid.
In case that wasn't clear, let me put it this way: All new LI's comes with scratches! (See the post from Cliff if you think I'm wrong)
Get it now?

Re: Question for LI Users!!!
I guess it's mostly luck. My heads came perfect without visible blemishes...

This argument is quite ridiculous.
If you think that all LI's come with scratches, fine, I have no desire to change your mind about that. My point remains that it is to your own detriment that you are okay with that 'fact'.
My LPP was in perfect condition out of the box, my 9500xi was in perfect condition out of the box, my new car was in perfect condition out of the show room.
These are just some of my standards when the word "New" preceeds the item I am purchasing.
If you dont ever let the manufacture (of any product) know that you expect the utmost in quality, service and attention to detail, you will always get less than you paid for.
