Suggestion on Checking My LI
For about 2 weeks I have been having a issue with getting sunlight interference warnings from my LI even at night. Anyone have an idea on what causes this or how I can diagnose the problem. I get them also during the day when clouds are out or sun is not bright.
Thanks to anyone who can help figure this out.

Re: Suggestion on Checking My LI
Try unplugging one head at a time to see if you can isolate it to a single head. You might take a camera with night vision to look into the heads and see if they might have water in them. Do it at night and you can see into the heads perfectly.

Re: Suggestion on Checking My LI
Get a bright flashlight and point it at the front of the heads to check for moisture.

I do run both...I will admit I like the voice of the LI but do to circumstances if there is a problem I will not be able to obtain a new piece for my LI so I will only run my M47.

Re: Suggestion on Checking My LI
I have looked in the heads while they are firing and I can definatly see something inside that could possibly be moisture. Oh well guess its time to scrap the LI...Its unfortunate because I do enjoy my LI.

The sunlight interference randomly and at night usually indicates moisture in my experiences.

No way to fix and no way to replace so I am stuck!

If you look at them while they are not firing through Nite vision on a Sony camera you can see the moisture if it is there.

Re: Suggestion on Checking My LI
Here's an idea...check the max heat specs for the heads. Pop them in the oven and keep a close eye on the temp. Let the moisture burn up for a good 30 minutes or so then take some silicone sealant to the heads. Worst case scenario you're left with a great paperweight which is pretty much what you have now.

I have to admit I had a bit of a chuckle typing that out....but by the time I added punctuation it actually seemed like a pretty good idea! Maybe use a hairdryer instead?

Re: Suggestion on Checking My LI
can't you take the lenses off on those? I would try to stick the heads in a jar of rice (sealed from the outside air with lid) and let them sit there for a few days or more. The rice sucks up any moisture. If you can take the lenses off, still put them in the rice and after they are really dry hit them with some electrical contact cleaner (plastic safe type) to clean everything up really nice, once clean dry them with air in a can stuff and test them again.

Re: Suggestion on Checking My LI
I dont think the lenses remove.
-
Re: Suggestion on Checking My LI
so what do you do if you have to replace the lens because it is cracked or maybe got hit with a rock and chipped? Do you have to buy new heads?

yes...I believe.
-
Re: Suggestion on Checking My LI
I thought you could replace the lenses on the LI heads? Or was it Blinder....both?
Either way, I'd at least try the rice method. Don't really have much to loose at this point...

I should have but because of the Blinder and LI issue Cliff does not deal with me. In a way I don't blame him but I am being punished and I don't make Blinder policy. It's like if a ford car salesman owns a Chevy and ford sues Chevy does that mean Chevy owners who work for Ford don't get there car serviced under warranty?

Re: Suggestion on Checking My LI
If Blinder had voice, I'd buy it in a heartbeat at the price point it's at now.

Re: Suggestion on Checking My LI
I'd pay more for the voice alerts if they didn't have the NY accent!

All we're missing is Latin American and Indian.

Re: Suggestion on Checking My LI
Blinder would totally dominate if they had jammers with 13 year old Swedish girl voice alerts! :D

I thought we would use a women who had been chain smoking for 40 years to do our voices.

Me thinks that would promote more JTGs as you would wait for the voice to completely finish before killing the switch.
On a side note, I've heard Cliff makes a funny impression of a 13 yr old Swedish girl. Maybe they could use that?
