Central / SoCal Testing...
(This message was copy and pasted from my reply to the March 20 cancelation post. I felt I needed a new thread. :P Please delete the reply I made there. Thanks.)
Hey, I'm sorry the event was canceled, I was looknig foward to testing our jammers out.
Currently, I am in contact with 3 companies and I am working on purchasing 3 maybe 4 Lidar units. I have picked out:
LTI Truspeed
Stalker LZ1
Prolaser III
and I am thinking about an LTI Ultralite...
After I acquire these units... hopefully within a week or two, I want to do Lidar testing. Now from the interest shown, it looks like a lot of people want to do it. All I ask is that whoever comes along to the testing site chips in a little... these units will cost me maybe 4-5k. I am trying to get demo versions to save money. I live in Central California, so if we could organize something closer to me, that would help... I am ok, however, with driving to SoCal.
As soon as I get these units, I am doing my testing within a few weeks of their arrival. I refuse to wait. I am obsessive compulsive, and I must do tests. I will do tests... no cancelations!
So lets set up a date/time/place that can work for us all.
Love,
Oyu

Re: Central / SoCal Testing...
Generation 5 Stalker LZ1 ordered. The sales rep says that the unit is brand new and has just come out. IM SO EXCITED. The new unit cost me 3195 btw. I hope its worth it.

Re: Central / SoCal Testing...
WOW!!!
You better love this hobby as $3,000 for a gun is expensive. I'm sure your the only one on this forumn with that gun. Your gonna make a lot of new friends now.

Re: Central / SoCal Testing...
Are you being sarcastic, or are you being serious? I realize many people on these forums have Lidar...
Anyways, its a fun hobby. I have had so much fun since coming to these forums and learning as much as I have.
You guys are great. =)

I'm serious, $3,000 for a gun is a lot. I'm looking for the Ultralyte LR-B myself and no way i'm I ever gonna pay retail price for them. By you owning such a rare gun, members are gonna want to borrow your gun and in return, they will ship you what they have.

Wow... such a cynical world we live in. :(

LOL, I may end up being your roommate. In the last year, I purchased a 9500CI, V1, LI-Dual, and LI-quad. 4Gs with of counter measure should qualify me as a radar hord.

Re: Central / SoCal Testing...
I'd be down for Central Cal/ even SoCal.(moving to San Luis Obispo this summer )
I won't be getting my jammer until the summer as well, so i'd love to set something up around then. :D
I'd definitely be willing to throw some money in for all your gun purchases, wow!

Sad thing is I have a PL3, LZ1, Marksman, ATR yet all I have is a 5 year old M40 jammer. That said, my truck is a center mass black hole so no reason to upgrade yet until another head goes bad. My jammer weakness is close up mirrow shots of the chrome mirrows.:(

Re: Central / SoCal Testing...
lol, hugs Dr. Coke... =)
I think it might be super rare at first.... I was told this new Stalker Lidar is just being released. Let's see, if I remember the conversation correctly...
The sales rep told me that the gun has just been certified for use, 500 have been preordered and my name is now on the list... 200 have been sent off for some requirement for their gun certification or state testing... whatever! :P
The invoice says: Stalker Lidar LR
Long Range?
Anyways... preordered toy and I'll be one of the first to get.. good enough. lol
So yeah there are tons of areas to test here on Central California. All kinds of open country everywhere. Also... I will need any help I can get on using a Lidar. I want to do the tests right. I need any info you friends can spare. Thanks.. and email me if you are interested.

Re: Central / SoCal Testing...
Outrun has already jammed the new Stalker during R&D in front of Stalkers facility.:D

LOL! Pwnt.
I wonder what else is different about this gun. It seems silly to promote a gun based on it's "long range" when the current guns already shoot much farther than they need to. It's simply not an asset. But I'm sure there are plenty of police chiefs stupid enough to think it is. I worked for a few.

X2. It is all about marketing. lol
Distance has never been a weakness of the LTZ for me. Off axis targeting is my LZ1's weakness. Too much of an angle & range goes down. Here is a crappy picture of my old LZ1 with upgraded software pulling off a 6200 ft clocking in a 45 zone:

I'm not 100% sure about all of the differences. I heard long distance of course... and my understanding is also updated software, better lenses, and built better against jamming. Now since the post above says the new Stalker has already been jammed infront of them.. yahooooo!! :P BTW... which jammer was used against the new Stalker?
I think it is all marketing though. If I were a Laser Jammer company, I would always claim my products were the best in every way. It is all about getting the consumers money.
Anyways, I just want the best Lidar guns to test and play with. I love toys. =D
Soon, I think that I am going to buy a Prolaser III. Since I just dropped 3.5k on the new Stalker, I am going to wait a little to get one.
Unfortunately, Laser Technology won't sell to me since I am a individual.... >:( When I asked why, the sales rep said that too many people have bought from them for the puspose of fighting Laser tickets in court and for the purpose of testing jammers. I was like, "I want to give you thousands for a Lidar and you won't take it?" He said "No." What a jerk! >:(
Eh...

LOL! Well, they're thinking exactly the way we do. We're reticent to discuss countermeasures to prevent LEOs from developing methods of defeating them. So it's not surprising that the LIDAR industry is worried about the opposite effect affecting the viability of their products.

Outrun uses Blinders last I heard. I will find the post.
When did LTI turn you down? LTI will sell a lidar to anyone with cash. Times are tough & money is green.
-
Re: Central / SoCal Testing...
LTI turned me down yesterday when I talked to the California sales rep. I told him I would like to purchase 1 Ultralyte and 1 Truspeed. He declined and told me that orders came from headquarters not to sell to individuals... and I was willing to fork up lots of green.
Whatever =/

Oh FFS, guys! A guy begged and pleaded for people to come to a SoCal meet here for weeks, even telling you he had all the guns lined up, and a grand total of TWO people said they *might* come, but didn't want to help pay for the guns. Now you want something to magically happen? Good luck with that!
This ALWAYS happens. Someone busts their arse for weeks, putting out money for guns and other accommodations, only to have NOBODY show up, and then three days later people start whining about why there is never testing in their area. Well THIS is why!
If testing your set-up is important to you, then you'll drop what you're doing and make time for it when the opportunity presents itself, AND you'll pony up some dough to help cover expenses, AND you won't whine and beeyotch about it. If it isn't that important to you, then go away.

BIG X2!!! Everyone wants something for nothing and they want it now!!
I know what I would tell everyone after I lined up 7 lidar units to test wiith and then everyone backs out because they did not want to help with SHIPPING!! We are not even talking about renting as a couple forum members loaned out their units for just the cost of shipping charges and then everyone says no I don't want to chip in a few $ to help pay for that.
I don't feel sorry for the SC crowd if they never get another testing event after that last response. At out last MOAC test in the freezing cold we had about 40 people show up, with one driving up from New Orleans and one from the other side of Tennessee. Those were two guys that wanted to test their systems and were willing to go a little out of the way to do so.

Given the fact that there is such thing as an infraction labeled CVC 28150, you will not find a time and place listed anywhere here.

Yeah me neither. I'm not sure who he was referring to.
Clearly most people don't understand SoCal in general ... I often have plans, then drive by the beach and think that looks like a much better option.:dance3:
