i would think the one with the higher model number?
also heard the Whistler Pro 58 is one of the best under $100 detector.
The BEL Express 925 and 795 have basically the same RF receiver, so expect performance to be about the same between the two. The main differences are probably features.

Look on the bottom of your radioshack detector, see if there is an FCC ID on it. If so, post the number up and I'll give you my best guess. If there is not an FCC ID, then is is likely that the BEL units are better than your radioshack unit.Quote:

I think that is probably an older unit. It is pretty safe to say the BEL units will give you better performance.
Thanx man..... so now I have to decide between 795 and 925. Price will play a major role in it.
Do you know how much 925 cost? 795 is still 79.99 at radio shack!
the 795 is cheaper than the 925 when I did a search on pricing on the internet.
Roy does not show the 925 on his web site but he may be able to get you one.
I would PM Roy and see if he can get you one and at what price.
2 Things:
1) I have concluded that my E795 really must not be your average E795, it is infact a freak... the detections I get compared to what everyone else is saying... outlandishly good. I got 4 seperate warnings today, (3 of which over a half mile).
The first two (were nearly identical) LEO's (locals) sitting in school zones with constant on Kband in the city... I got .5miles on the first and .6 on the second (straight shoots... but with elevation changes, you can't (visually) see the until LEO to .2 and .3 miles in each respective case).
The 3rd was a Ka NYST (constant on) hit that I got .8 miles away from the Trooper, again straight shoot... some elevation change. It picked it up for maybe 3 or 4 seconds (2of4 strength) stopped for about 2 seconds as I went down into a little 'lull' between the crests of two hills and then came back for the remander of the encounter.
The last detection was .3-.4miles around 2 significant bends Ka(constant-on) state Trooper.
So mine may just be outlandish in its detections:(I will get pictures of the .8mile detection so you can see the layout)
2) I plan on videotaping the 'Your Speed is' encounters one of these days when (If) the city decides to put them back up during the spring. (The signs locations have steep elevation change and a curve between them... so it will show my average alerts from the E795 under such circumstances)... this will allow people who have had very bad luck with it it to compare their 795 to the detections I am getting, because I am getting the feeling they will be completely different then those whom have gotten rid of theirs.

I got mine (for testing as you know) from RadioShack for $100, and if I may say my unit has been more then worth everypenny for me, I'm more then pleased to keep this detector.
I'd say go for the 795. It has a much nicer windshield mount than the 925. The 925 mount is hard to adjust and is of very poor quality. The display is a little different between the two, but that's a personal preference. Performance should be pretty much the same.
