Couldn't get multanova with 9500ci
Today i made tests with my escort 9500ci US version against multinova multiradar c band 24,100 GHz k band.
I was shocked no detection at all . Ka tested ok k tested ok.
My radar sensor was installed behind the glass inside my car ,before it was behind my car logo Lexus logo. And people advised me to change the location , because low power radar needs vertical mode and nothing in front radar sensor, so i told myself let me see what different it will makes
So i removed it to inside my car to make some test and yes nothing detect.
So what do you think?

Re: Couldn't get multanova with 9500ci
Something wrong with your RD or the speed camera was not on.

Re: Couldn't get multanova with 9500ci
No way i already got ka police car , k is working , nothing is wrong two cars multaradar c
I will try tomorrow. With vids

Re: Couldn't get multanova with 9500ci
Is there any chance that the radar system was not turned on in the vehicle that you did the runs against? Did you try another detector against the same vehicle at the time to see if this was the case?
Just a few suggestions :).
I hope that the radar was off as it would be a big problem for you if the 9500CI was unable to detect it and I would be surprised also. A member from Ireland got 500 metres on one of these things with his Euro version Redline a few days ago. Even if it was because your 9500CI was the US version, it should still go off at least when you are close to the thing .
My STiR Plus is a US version and it still detected the Redflex here even if it was at a poor range at times and they both use the same M3 antenna but the software is probably different all right.
Try it again tomorrow and see if it works then.

Re: Couldn't get multanova with 9500ci
Sorry for the vid. But here you can see v1 get it with low distance maybe 50 meters
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOI-cCmqRDQ
I will try to upload new one later this day and good one.
Escort couldn't detect it v1 ok but within 50 meters.

Not good news for the 9500ci.

Re: Couldn't get multanova with 9500ci
Ghost_9, the Multaradar C is very low powered. If my memory serves me right, the output power is only 0,15 mw. For comparison the Multanova 6F (Ka-Band), has a output power of 0,5 mw and only TOP detectors (V1, Stinger, STI-R,...) can detect this photo radar acceptable.
Looking at some videos on youtube, the M3 platform (STI-Driver, 9500ci, Redline, STI-R) should detect the Multaradar a few hundred metres away.
If your 9500ci doesn't detect the Multaradar C at all, then something is wrong with your detector or your install.
Most likely your windshield blocks the radar waves. You can do some testing and hold the V1 out of your window. Drive slowly towards the photo radar and look if detection is better, when holding your V1 out of the window. You may also try a vertical mount.

Re: Couldn't get multanova with 9500ci
Let me explain some thing here. I'm looking for detection !! I have passed by multanova so many times holding radar sensor by my hand. But there were no k band alert not even small one. So i believe im facing something wrong with k band. Sending back radar sensor to escort won't be easy and will cost me a lot. So i think i should pass and keep it in its old place behind my car logo. What i have seen by testing v1 against this multaradar c. I believe it's too hard to detect it more than 100 meters. Lol damn this multanova is good

Re: Couldn't get multanova with 9500ci
Ghost: how was your 9500ci mounted? horizontally like -- or vertically like | ? I have same experience with my stir-plus. with the radar antenna pointed away no detection at all. approaching the radar from the front there was sometimes a detection but only in the radar beam. sti-r plus was mounted vertically. multaradar was set to sensitivity 1 (lowest). my stinger DSI alerted at about 100-120 when approaching the radar from the back and maybe about 250 from the front (curved road and going uphill). the DSI SA(spectrum analyzer = antenna) was also mounted "vertically" i.e. position B meaning polarized for multanova 6f/ramer. i bet the detection would have been better when monted in position A i.e. polarized for multaradar. which country do you live in ghost? I would say Stigner DSI or Stinger Card would be the detector for you :)

Re: Couldn't get multanova with 9500ci
I live in saudi arabia. We have two kind of they call it "saher". One is using multanova and other vitronics. My western area of saudi arabia using multanova and only radars are been used. Others are using vitronic laser. Back to escort 9500ci i believe mounting wasn't the problem because it didn't detect any thing not small k when approaching to multaradar c And that's why i came to point i believe this isnt multaradar issue. My escort 9500ci got problem maybe when updating it , i failed to do it right.
Stinger card very expensive ? What is the lowest price you guys found it? I dont want the whole package i just need spectrum analyzer with basic functions to make it works. But i have been advise that stinger only fit for k band and little of ka. And it can't detect mobile ka and other ka. So it's going be specially for multanova.

Re: Couldn't get multanova with 9500ci
Hi Rahamax
I am also using the Stinger. Can you tell me what is position A an B ?
My cable on SA is on left and right . What is this position ?

Just to clarify for the others - you mean multaradar k band 24.100GHz. although it still has the "multanova" brand on it when we say multanova this normally refers to multanova 6f which operates on 34.3GHz.
card is normally around ~1100e including the SA. card would be the cheapest option DSI on the other had has some nice K band filtering possibilities and other userful settings. it covers both K and Ka and very well; however not superwide Ka. what Ka band radars do you have in saudi arabia?

there are arrows on the rear side of the antenna. when they are pointed left/right [cable coming from top or bottom] that is position A
your is mounted in position B with arrows up/down and cable coming out on left/right [got that? ;) ]. this is better for multaradar 6f and ramer. where do you live/drive and what radars does your police use?

Thanks Ragamix
The Multanova 34.3 and Redflex 24.100 are wildly using.
Now, only the Stinger can work good but it cost too much and I can not bring it to my other car.

Re: Couldn't get multanova with 9500ci
I have seen a whistler pro78se not even alert to the Multanova 6F running on .3mW of power in the bushes. Other times the pro78se has given 300m warning +
The valentine one was picking up the 6F hidden in the bushes, with the radar source facing away from the rd's receiver. Just shows that sometimes some radar detectors don't recognize such a low powered level of scatter. A bit surprised if 9500ci didn't even alert, but I could believe it.

Re: Couldn't get multanova with 9500ci
i'm guessing ireland? anyway what kind of radar sensor does redflex use? do you know?
yes stinger costs more but you get what you pay for and as you just said it's the only one that works. since multanova 6f is horizontaly polarized and if redflex is vertically polarized just like multaradar than i suggest you remount the antenna to be at 45degree angle (compromise solution) or even better (but more expensive) is to add one more spectrum analyzer (they need to be at least 90cm apart from each other to avoid interference). and YES you can connect more that one antenna to a stinger DSI or Card to always get the max possible detection distance

dont get confused here. multanova is a product family - multanova 6f is a Ka band radar as you know. but MultaRadar is a different device (also has the multanova trademark on it) that operates on K band 24.100GHz and is much more difficult to detect than multanova 6f

Yes. It's multaradar c using k band. I'm sorry i didn't know multinova means some thing else. Anyway multaradar c are very difficult to detect and once detector get it , it will be too late.
In saudi arabia only radar are using here low power radar is k band for multaradar c. And wide ka for undercover polic cars . Lasers are used vitronics poliscan speed but too far from where i live.

Re: Couldn't get multanova with 9500ci
no problem really all i wanted to do is clarify the difference. wide ka in combination with multaradar is a problem since stinger does not cover wide ka.. so i guess you might need to run 2 detectors: stinger and bel/escort/v1 for full protection.. and a laser jammer of course when it comes closer to you

Re: Couldn't get multanova with 9500ci
The Redflex is using the same kind of the sensor (Flat) . I think it may be the horizontaly because the V1 detect better with Vercital mount for the Redflex.

most new fotoradars now use the flat patch antenna.. i guess i need to take a closer look into this :) anyway if this (H pol) is the case than your stinger SA is installer correctly. what is normally your detection distance? rear and forward facing

Re: Couldn't get multanova with 9500ci
The Redflex radar system used here is the AGD340 and you will be able to see it in this video I took from the news a while back...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJBtdU4gb3Q
I have tested out the V1 and a US model Bel STiR Plus against this system here and the V1 in a vertical mount was best at 550 metres or so when facing the radar. The STiR plus was able to detect it at around 500 metres when held vertical also.
Neither of them can detect it until you have passed the thing when the radar is facing the other way though :(.
See this post from last week...
http://www.radardetector.net/forums/...l=1#post837006
Also, this is the Multanova radar systems we have in use over here..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-LNgo0EyIQ
The equipment is in view at about 1 minute into the clip.
