    Default This is Wierd

I think I know the answer already.

I have a cordless PNI traveller. it has served me well but is soon to be retired, replaced by an STI from Roy.

As of late it will alert to an LEO on K band, suddenly switch to Ka band for a while, and then back to K. (FYI they use both bands here so it can be confusing)

I doubt the cop is running both bands. I suspect it has gone out of tune.

    Detection range is still good.

    Any thoughts?

I use a corded Sensoro Alpha aka PNI RX5000.

Using a K / Ka tester, I can make it display all kinds of weird alerts. I've gotten it to say Ka when I used K and K when Ka. And it usually takes ~2 second to alert to a Ka at all.

There is the possibility of a false alarm screwing with it...

Troopers are crazy. OPP are more down to earth. Except the ones who are on detector hunt.

I have also ran into a trooper with both a K, Ka band set-up (except he had [only]a rear-Ka antenna and used a handheld K unit for the front!)

There are several radars that can be configured like that. The Stalker Dual, the Decatur Genesis, and possible the Kustom Golden Eagle come to mind.

IMHO this is a clear case of band misidentification by the detector. I've used PNI's, it happens...
