high is better for radar, lower is pretty good for radar and best for laser.

But unless you have other countermeasures, it is too late anyways when laser goes off.

Higher is better for RADAR, for Laser, it depends on your unit. Even t though they thtarget low (center mass, license plate, headlights,etc), I'd say you would be better keeping your detector mounted HIGH all the time, that way you have a chance of picking up SCATTER from other people getting hit with laser.. if you pick up yourself getting hit, you're clocked.. so its pretty useless, unless you're using countermeasures, like VEIL and a laser protector (Roy sells em), you might get a few seconds before they get a reading..

Also, don't mount behind the 'tint band' on your windshield, unless you're of the mindset that it helps minimize the effect of the sun's rays.. Mike V wrote up something on this..

the v1s work best allways mounted high above the rear view mirror behine the blue tint band works really fine.also in my opion the 8500-x50s works best mid windsheld in my opion is best place to mount the x50 but allways try different ways cause there is allways something new to learn
