    Default MPH activation process

If a LEO has a MPH radar unit in their vehicle that is off, how long does it take to turn on and would you get a reading well it warms up?

I don't think they use instant on in Ontario, but I am certain that use mostly MPH Ka radar units.

    Thanks for the help.

It depends on whether the unit is actually powered off or just in standby (hold) mode. If powered off, probably a second or two, depending on how long it takes to do its power-up self tests etc. If on standby, a fraction of a second (which is why they call it "instant-on").

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

you might be thinking of pop. instant on just turns it on quickly. once on it has to stay on.

If a LEO "quick triggers" a radar gun, a detector won't alert. Usually when a LEO triggers an instant on hit to read a speed the detector will alert to that if it is in range.

In stationary the reading is instant. If moving & the conditions are right it is also instant.
