    Default Radar on/off question.

My question relates to instant on radar tracking.

If the police use radar to track your speed and is able to lock your speed on the radar gun. When you speed is locked in, is the radar on so that a radar dectator will indicate a radar near you.

That is can a radar lock a speed without it being on so that it can be detected by a RD.

I want know if I am pull over and my RD did not indicate a radar near you can I assummed that the police does not have my speed locked in. I am assumming my RD is working.

Well... your RD not alerting... is never a defense of saying the LEO couldn't have got your speed.

With that said... if your RD is working, it should pick up an LEO's instant on when he turns it on... but by that time he already has your speed anyways.

To awnser your question: A radar (gun) must transmit a signal to obtain a speed reading... but the LEO's may quickly turn the unit off after your speed reading is obtained.

I don't think it automatically goes into standby when a speed is locked. But if they don't want to transmit when a speed is locked, they can just press the hold button.
