Can some of you help me out.
I'm looking to buy a radar detector for about $50.00 or less.
What one would be a good one to buy.

IMO, there is no 'good' detector to be had for under 50 bucks
Whats a decent detector
for a reasonable price?
my suggesting is save that $50 and save it for when you get pulled over. I dont see why someone who is in the market for a radar detector isnt willing to spend ateast a $100. After all the ticket they are going to get if they buy a cheapo will be atleast $125. Come on guys, you cant get a decent RD for $50. No offense, but we are tired of mis informed radar users purchasing $40 rd's.
My suggesting if price is an issue.
Get the Whistler pro 58 = $85.00 http://www.radarbusters.com/products...ler/pro-58.asp
Or a Beltronics 795 =$64.00
keep in mind, i would not trust these RD's going anywhere 10+ mph over the PSL.
A reasonable RD is the Beltronics V955. It is the BEST RD UNDER $200 and even beat the Top 4 in some cases in the recent GOL testing.Originally Posted by thedude1

Here are the 2007 GOL test results:

I survived 3 years w/ my whistler 1660 i got off ebay for $64 shipped refurbished back when.
It only really failed me twice but saved my ass many more times.
I think efficient detector use is 75% user and 25% detector.
Yeah, well....i won't go there :? But seriously, like Hook said, save your cash, thedude1 and when you have enough, but something around $100 to $200 mark 8)Originally Posted by Computerjlt

If you really only have $50 then take a look at the Whistler SRT-30R or Whistler SRT-35R.
You certainly get what you pay for but I was surprised how well it did.
You should look into the XTR-140 and XTR-260
You will not be dissapointed for the price
Save it for the Bel V955. Find one used. Any cheaper than that, and you can probably do just as good of a job with your eyes, no RD needed.Originally Posted by thedude1
A RD for me is to see beyond what I can see
