Default Direct wire RD in Honda Accord?

Hey, first off I'd like to say I've been lurking here a while gathering info to purchase an RD, and I've finally settled on the Bel RX65.

Now I am wondering does anyone have experience wiring the direct wire smart cord into a 2003 Honda Accord? My main problem is what fuse should i wire it into, and how? I want to make sure I have the right idea before I start on this project.
    Any pictures of the install?

    Thanks in advance
    Yukon

A couple of people with the same Accord as you have done the same thing actually and I think there are some pictures of the install too. Do a search for "accord hardwire" or something like that and you should find it.

Heres some instructions you will find useful.

The neatest way to do it is with a "Add A Circuit"

I think I ran mine off of the radio fuse

It isn't to hard to do. Just plug it into the same wiring the radio or the cig lighter uses (i used cig lighter) and make sure you have a good ground. it took me over an hour to figure out, but a ground is very important.

when i did it I plugged it in to the proper wire but the rd wouldn't start up and i couldn't figure it out. over time I realized that the ground wasn't really a ground so with the car running i held the ground wire and went around touching places I thought that would work as a ground until the rd started.

it is not as hard as it sounds.

I am not 100% sure what your car offers or how it works...but in the Scion world you can just use your sunroof power to control your RD. The sunroof is fused and is a constant 12v source only on when the car is turned on.

Again...I know MOST Accords have sunroofs..so if other things don't work...look into your sunroof power.

hey man. I just hard wired my RD into my 2002 honda accord. I tapped into the turn signal fuse in the fusebox near the driver's side door. I bought one of those add-a-fuses from radarbusters (mini size) and also bought the direct wire cord with mute button from radarbusters.com. all I did then was run the one wire up the A-pillar and right above my rear view mirror. I mounted the mute button in one of those dummy panels below the left air vent. here's the link to my posts about it> http://www.radardetector.net/viewtop...459&highlight=

let me know how it turns out for you.

i tried a few other fuses, same deal...

and no i cannot turn on the radio or move the sun roof when the car is off... so i dont know whats happening

not sure exactly what is going on here, but keep trying. I used my turn signal fuse to add-it-on. look at all the fuses in your owner's manual or on the fuse panel itself. some people have said in the past just to keep trying random ones until it works. just be careful about the amperage- I'm not exactly sure, but I used a 10amp fuse with the 10 amp turn signal fuse. try to keep them similar I think.

Again..I dont know Accords..but you may have tapped directly into a hard wired power line. What I mean is..you have a direct connection to the battery. If you want add a SPST switch to your RD power wire before taking it all the way into the dash area or where ever you are running the wire. This way you can have a switch to turn it on and off when you want it. They also make SPST switches with LEDs that light up when there is power so you don't forget that it is on.

Try using no fuse at all. It may sound dangerous..but both your radio and sunroof are fused themselves, so the extra fuse wiring seems redundant. You could also use the lighter or power socket in the car since both of those are usually fused and switched with the ignition.

Found this thread..worth a read at least:

sometimes the radio fuse might be the constant for settings memory, stuff like that, never ran an install on a 7th gen, but im sure its somewhere that you can get switched power, if not, there are other more complicated options that I can suggest
