Default Valentine 1 or Bel STi Driver? Need Help, Making a Purchase.

I really just don't know which one is better. All I know is that the Valentine 1 is the best on laser, but I'm going to be getting the laser interceptor soon so that doesn't really matter. Which one is the best with dectecting radar on all the bands, the Valentine 1 or the STi Driver? Thanks.

I think the STi is best. STi provides me more warning when there is a 35.5 Ka radar gun up ahead pointed away from me. IMO, STi is the best there is out right now. But the V1 and STi are both the 2 best detectors out right now and you can't go wrong with either one.

Look at the Over the Hill test:

Scroll up a little bit to check out the "Forward Facing Test":

Base on my expereinces with the 2 V1's I have owned which were versions 3.825 and 3.858, overall I had more consistent advanced warning to 35.5 Ka radar with the STi which is the biggest radar threat in my area.

Stealth Jamal also likes the fact that no Spectres will be picking him up

You will not get a concrete answer to this.

Both are fine detectors with essentially equal - and fantastic - performance. The biggest difference is the presence of a rear antenna on the V1, but that's only as important as you make it in 99% of cases.

Base your decision on what features each offers for the price, and take it from there. If you're biased towards one more than the other, then that's probably the detector for you.

(That said, I'm a long-time Bel 985 / V1 / x50 user, and if I had to choose from scratch again, I'd be hard-put between the STi and V1 myself.)

    STi all the way.

    1) Easy to program

    2) tech mode (shows the radar frequency)

    3) Good false alert suppresion

    4) rugged and service cost after 1 year warranty is only $60USD

    5) Total stealth against all known RDD's

    6) Includes in price, cigeratte power adapter, hardware kit, spare suction cups and external powered speaker.

Value for value, it is the best.

    Welcome to the board eightball135

I spent about a month researching detectors before I purchased the STi. The GOL test and this forum helped with my final decision.

My biggest suggestion is to read, read, and read this forum. Before you know it you will see a pattern between the detectors. Also review your driving habits and find a detector that will fit your demands.

    Happy driving.

The best answer is buy both of them if you can afford to do so. Keep the one you like the best and send the other back before the 30 days is up.
