My experiences are complete opposite of Staton's. I have owned a V1 since 1995 and never had one go bad on me. In fact the ONLY issue I have ever had was one that I bought off Ebay and it was out of tune. On the other hand I had to return an X50, 2 RX65, and an STI for self cal and service required issues. As far as Whistler goes they have TOP NOTCH CS

How many V1's have you had?
How long do you keep one?

Happy is currently loving his 3.813 intermitantly tries his PRO-78 for comparison and would not switch for anything else at this point.

I am guessing that sethy is currently thinking about stopping by VR and personally buying a brand new 3.862 but will not keep it for more than a few weeks or months because his love/hate relationship for a V1 will get to him.
How am I doing?

Well, they say an E should appear, but I have had a unit that has fallen out of tune back in the earlier days that did not give me an E.

Until you have something catch on fire on you at the end of the day there's nothing to worry about. *cough* valentine. not to mention I had 3 give me the dreaded "E"...

You know because it loses detection range/stops working on Your Speed signs. If you never drive through areas that use Your Speed signs...well...I guess you can use the door openers to test it...if there are no door openers or Your Speed signs in any place you drive through, move away from Siberia.

I leave mine in the glove box, but lately I've been wondering if it's getting too hot even in there.
