What kind of radar detector is in the camera car?

What is it alerting to?

Why does it keep going off?

it's an x50.

its alerting to laser.

let the guy know his alternator is probably going bad. that's one of the first signs the constant laser alerts when accelerating.

guess the V1 doesn't have a built in mechanism to detect a bad alternator

Laser falses could be caused by a faulty X50 as well.

A friend of mine has this problem with his 8500 (non-X50). It falses when he accelerates in his Mazda 5. When he uses it in his Audi, it falses when he honks the horn or opens the sunroof. His 8500 also falsed in my car when I honked the horn, but my X50 doesn't false in his car or mine.

Another thread here indicates that wrapping the cord around a ferrite core (not a ferret

) may solve the problem.

haha no. just something I learned from using one of my other x50's back in the day. after I wrecked my WRX I was letting my friend use the x50 until I got another car. As soon as he started using it, it would constantly alert to laser any time he would accelerate. Week later he took his truck to autozone, and sure enough bad alternator.

roommmate found out the same thing with his audi s4.
