Passport 8500 x50 vs. Bel RX 65 for Roy

Between these two they both performed just as good as the other? You still recommend the RX65 over the 8500 x50. Is there any portion of testing that's important that the 8500 out performed the rx65. Just curious if the best detector to go with is the rx65....Thanks!!!

The RX65 and the 8500 are very similar as far has hardware, what is different is the software

What I like about the RX65 is the Ku band capabilities and the voice.

My guess is the Bel is the same thing only has voice and KU band. So the Bel is probibally the better detector would be my guess.

Ok, I went with the Bel RX 65. I just don't know why the escort x50 gets all the hype since the rx 65 is just as good and has better features. if you call Bel or Escort they both admit they are owned by the same person. They also will tell you that the RX 65 and the escort 8500 x50 are the same detector but the rx65 has voice and KU. Roy isn't the only one saying that. If you call the mfg they will confirm it if you ask them point blank...

One thing I love about the X50 is the Expert Display...2Ka, 2K, and 4X display showing multiple threats. From my understanding, the Bel doesn't have as many.

I forgot about that compeltly. That is very true. I use my multiple threat radar every day. There is one spot in my city on the wya to school that will pick up a flase K band signal. If there are 2 signals I know that one of them are a cop.

Something else that I noticed about the BEL vs Escort is that the Escort has the "thumbwheel" on the side for the power/volume, the BEL has buttons on the top.

I like to hard-wire my detectors to a switched power source, and leave them on so that they come on whenever I start my car and I don't forget to turn them on. I would think that this would be possible with the Escort since you could just leave the switch on, but with the BEL I would bet that each time it loses power you would need to push the power button to turn it on again. Can anyone confirm this?
