Uhh. . can someone explain to me how these things happened:

    Run 1: X, X, K, K, K, K (All Mode)

    Run 2: X, X, X, X, K, K, K, K (Adv Logic Mode)

    Run 3 : X (4), K (6) (Logic, No x)

How did 4 signals get through .. and how in gawds name did 4 X band signals get picked up in L mode. . but not in A mode?
haha good catch. it's because Cobra was in charge of the V1.... HRM....

The test does seem rather pointless, there are roughly the same kind of results year after year.

Last years v1 is no different to a brand new v1 made this year, well we've had all of the software revision changes, but if one goes on mike valentines word thats is there is no performance increases in software updates then to keep testing year after year with the same products is rather pointless.

the only new product is the escort 9500i and some unknown Q stuff.

But the tests are really the same every year, they don't do real trap sinarios which are over the hill and around the bend testing, every detector will detect radar on a long straight road try the same detector in an urban dense enviroment and the results will be different, even more so when the detector encounters other microwave interfearence!

False alert testing was also pretty retarded IMO. Testing areas with known door openers is pretty pointless. The detector with the least sensitivity wins, as rejecting door openers is not much different from rejecting police radar.

I would've LOVED to see some testing of how particular detectors false to other detectors, like Cobras/Q3's.

    The results were pretty lame.

    I can see it now.
Right on the bx will say "9 mile detection Range" Certified by an independed lab.

It is my honest belief that this will be used to (fool the consumer into thinking that particular detector will pick up radar 9mi away on a consistant basis), <-- sorry not politically correct. I meant to say Increase sales by way of product integrity.

Can see the letter now typed up for the manufactuers from SML,
If you want to increase sales, get your product certified by SML today!

^The above statement is my opinion and does not represent fact^^
So dont try and sue me okay.

Geez, you guys are harsh. It's not that bad. The test on the falsing is pretty good. 9500i owns all - definitely the future of RDs. Hope they have that feature on the new STi-R.

There's some good information in there.

STRONGLY disagree. The falsing test was crap. 90% of the falsing I encounter is caused by nearby electronics and radar detectors emitting leakage, and this test of falsing does not measure the way detectors filter out these threats at all.

I raised so much hell over this test. it took 2 freakin hours to do something that is really stupid. my biggest problem was the fact it was saying hey if your detector sucks and doesn't have the db's then it won't see the falses.

the cobra kept falsing on Ka but you don't see that reported either.

Glad to hear someone seeing this my way! The test rewards detectors for being less sensitive and rejecting proper forms of police radar. Apart from the 9500i's ability to lock based on GPS location and the V1's ability to reject FM-CW, if any other detector is NOT responding to all of these false locations, then it could very well fail to respond to police radar transmitted in this scenario.
