Default What's new in stealth & remote mounting?

I think it's great that the STi is invisible to all sorts of radar, but if it can still be seen with the windshield mount, what's the point?

Anything that's obvious is an invitation to theft as well as a ticket, so I'm waiting for something that has a remote mountable antenna and is Spectre / Stalcar invisible.

What's out there, or what's coming 'round the bend?

Some of the re-packaged Prowler remote systems look like they might do the trick, but some of the enclosure and mounting solutions are less than elegant.

    Ideas appreciated!

Why do you have your address and phone number in your signature?

It's something I've done for many years in USENET postings. In addition to giving people a chance to contact or respond to me in different ways, I want readers to know that they're responding to a real person. I've always tried to treat people with respect, and as a result I've never felt the need to worry that someone would want to look me up and do me harm.

Thats a good way for people to Spam you.
Have you Gotten much Spam and junk mail?

Just wanted to give you a heads up.
Some people don't feel as you and
see all that info as $$$$$$$

Actually, there are computer programs called
BOTS that scan the net and hunt for information
in forums and blogs. Your signature is exactly what it's
looking for and will pick up.

If you follow the TinyUrl in the sig it takes you to a page where you get my take on spam and what I'm doing about it personally.

I used one email address for 13 years and it got plenty of spam which I dealt with by using products like Robin Keir's K9 and Spamhilator. Very little spam these days since I dropped the old email address, went to hosting my own domains on LunarPages and took advantage of SpamAssasin there. It's a very effective program.

Just wanted to give you a heads up. Some people don't feel as you and see all that info as $$$$$$$
An aside: Are the people you're talking about the ones that have the "personal" info (like you) or the ones that WANT the info (the 'bad guys')?

People tend to fear things that they're unfamiliar with, and as someone that has has worked in the direct mail / marketing industry for over two decades, I've easily forgotten more about the subject than those easily frightened by it will ever know.

Actually, there are computer programs called BOTS
You're kidding! And other things like "honeypots"?

I appreciate your concern, but if you check out my photo, you might notice quite a few gray hairs (where there IS any hair left). Now I know that could mean that I'm senile, but it certainly means I wasn't born yesterday.

My first computer programs were written in FORTRAN at a time before many on this forum were born. (That includes FlyinZX, who may have been stupid enough to jump out of a perfectly good airplane.) I think being young is great, except for the part where kids sometimes think they know know everything. Some of us have "been there, done that" already.

So I don't begrudge anyone for the personal info they want to post in their sig. I assume they put it there for a reason, and it is THEIR sig, after all.

And if you're young and reading this, the only advice I have for you is not to piss away your best years studying, working and saving for retirement, when you won't be able to see, feel, smell or taste much of anything. (Hearing aids have come a long way, so you won't have any problems hearing people laugh at how you look, limp, smell ....)

So tear yourself away from your computer and this STUPID thread and go scam some babes! It's the weekend for heavens sake.

Actually, I'm a Systems Network Admin and deal
with these kinds of things everyday.

Well, I didn't mean computer program
literately, I just meant that Bots scan the
net..... I wasn't aware that you understood
so I just put it in understandable terms.

I'm just saying practice good habits and not
leave it up to a program to filter. Thats all
I meant. By the way, Spamhilator is a great
filter utility ( Good Call )

As far as my age, lets just say I'm beyond 30
so I have a bit of experience as well.

I didn't want to stir things up and
didn't mean for you to take it harshly.
I apologize if the post upset you in
any way. Maybe my tone was a little
harsh, that honestly wasn't how I meant
    it to come out.

I'm not here to judge, just to help.

So lets start over and give you a
    good experience on this forum.
We're all good people here and
want to help you in anyway we can.

    alright back on topic.

Bel is set to release the "STi-R" very soon. It is a remote mounted STi that can be concealed in your bumper area. But I caution that you this is going to be considered a REV A product and god it would suck to pay someone to professionally install it, only to have it fail.

I'm curious if you could elaborate a little more on your aversion to using one of the mounts that are widely accepted today?

radar busters sells this. it's decent but I think the reviews are fair it's not great but not horrible. it just gets the job done.

Further more, there is the option of using a visor clip. You can clip this on your visor which is pretty stealth, or you can mount it via your headliner at the top. Which is also very stealthy.

    Hope this helps a little.
