need help deciding on detector (V1, 9500i, 8500x50)

I am putting almost 40K on my car a year (travel for business) and I am starting to rack up a number of speeding tickets. My last one was in Oregon (85 in a 65) nabbed by laser on I5. I am tired watching everyone else flying by me and avoiding these tickets. I want to invest in a radar/laser detector. I plan to use it mostly on the highways. I need one with good laser detection, especially the instant-on type.
I am trying to decide between the V1, passport 9500i and the 8500 x50.
I would appreciate advice from people who have real world experiences with these detectors.

Well if you drive in Va, D.C. or in canada you should check out the beltronics Sti. I noticed in another post you mentioned that you might be using this where RD are illegal.

If it was city/dally commute the x50 or 9500I would be fine but it looks like the V1 is the better choice for your highway driving.

If RD's are illegal where you are consider the STI.

Do remember that no detector can protect you from laser. They might alert you that you are being shot, and by then, it's usually too late.

If you mostly drive the wide open interstates in WA, OR and CA, I would say the V1 is the best choice. I noticed you posted that you got your last ticket on I-5 in OR. Ive heard they will ticket you for 1 mph over in OR. They have really low speed limits in alot of the state too.

Hopefully they will shoot the rabbit first before they shoot you. You get an extra half a second to hit the brakes.

If no detector can "protect" you from laser. Than why do manufacturers claim they can? And why do so many on this forum inquire about effectiveness in laser protection for different units?
