    Default Bel/Escort smart cords

I was curious with the 2 versions of the smart cord, the cig plug type and the direct wire version, are the internals the same? Like on the cig lighter version I know that is angled. I was wondering if I took it apart and say wanted to flush mount it will the mute and leds be angled? Also, what is the power wire color I assume I would have to fuse it.

They are both the same. I actually sent a Beltronics Rd in for a tune-up and when the sent it they sent a smart cord that said passport on it and it works fine.

They probably sent you the Passport smart cord because they already had you pegged for eventually trying a 9500i. Either that or somebody in the shipping department can't read a word of English.

    Default differences

I know the Bel and Escorts are the same, but I was curious regarding the cigarette plug version and the direct wire version if the actual positioning of the Leds and mute button is the same. The cigarette version is angled i wanted to know if the circuit board on the direct wire version is set up the same way.

The hardwire display is angled too. I believe it's the same as on the lighter plug, but I'm too lazy to check.

The Beltronics and Escort cords are identical other than the name on the label.

There are two wires coming out of the back of the module. A black and red wire (splittable) that goes to the car's power and ground; there is an inline fuse. The other wire is black with the RJ11 plug that goes to the RD.

The hardwire and cigarette lighter SmartCords both use the exact same circuit boards and component positioning. The LEDs are aligned perpendicular to the front edge of the circuit board just like the push button is also aligned perpendicular to the front edge of the board.

This helps, now if I wanted to flush mount the cigarette version, any suggestions on how to do it, to make it look good?
