    Default General Beltronics question...

I have been looking at ebay for a beltronics unit, was going to go for the 955, but noticed there were quite a few other models in the 900 series on ebay selling a bit cheaper perhaps. I am wondering if the performance level of any Beltronics 900 series will be on par with the 955, or is there something special about the 955?
Actually, what I should be asking is, in general, which Beltronics units can I expect to get 955 level or better performance from? There seems to be quite a few diffferent models available, I missed a couple 955's for $90 bucks and I am burning about it and looking at alternatives...
    Thanks

$90? Don't buy detectors from unauthorized dealers, especially not ebay if thats where you are getting those numbers from.

In the current Vector lineup, only the 940 slots below the 955. The 955 has autoscan mode and a couple other feutures the 955 doesn't. But detection is the same.

I think he meant that the 955 has a few features the 940 does not have like city noX and autoscan.

So detection is the same on the 940 as the 955 but the 940 is lacking some features, that is what I am getting from the reply. I am also assuming that models with numbers HIGHER than 955 will have similar detection as the 955 but MORE features? Is this a correct assumption?
As far as where I buy it, I am happy with ebay, I am careful about what items I bid on and will get my detector for half retail price, to each his own I guess. Unless someone can confirm that bootleg Beltronics devices are being sold on ebay I am confident enough to buy a used unit from someone on ebay that is billed as 100% functional buy a seller with good feedback...
Thanks a bunch for your feedback everyone....

The problem with Bels and Escorts on Ebay are many units are black market and have their serial numbers taken off. What that means is bel/escort will not honor the warranty. It will cost you 80 bucks to get it fixed if there is a problem.

So sometimes you think you are getting a good deal on price, but in the long run the cheap price comes back and haunts you.
