Only tests will tell ... it's a "software and hardware" update to convert a 9500i to a 9500ix, so there is clearly something different about them.

I would imagine they are similar in detection capability, but who really knows? They have not been tested extensively yet. I just hope the GX65 does not school the 9500's ...

One thing that is different is the ramp up is far smoother on the 9500ix over the older 9500i that I had converted.

    Mucho worth it!

According to Escort, the hardware refers to the changeover of the LED to show arrows, whatever is related to use of the GPS database, and new casings. There's no hardware related to detection.

converted? you mean you have a 9500i that you updated to ix and now its a smoother rampup?

All though its possible, Escort claims its the exact same ramp up profile as the 9500i. No changes.+

Early models of the 9500i got hammered for lack of linear ramp up.

Something like 1111...777 instead of 1234567. Newly converted doesn't do it nor does newer 9500xi either.

First mod to the 95001 was they interfered with nearby satellite radio receivers. They changed the oscillator frequency. Had that mod done too.

Agreed, early 9500i models had that quick ramp to 10, and I still think the current version ramps up quick. Nothing like my original X50. BUT...

They've since released an upgrade that changed that ramp up on 9500i's, so if you either bought your 9500i within the last 5 or 6 months, OR did a software upgrade yourself at home - you should've had the latest and greatest....which is the same as the 9500ix's current ramp up.

Once again - straight from the techs at ESCORT (I can name names if you like) there's no changes to 9500ix from the current 9500i except for the database/arrows, and autolearn.

Just curious, did anyone actually think the ix was more sensitive than the I?
The 9500I/ix have always had the same sensitivity and the differences we see are all variance, even in comparison to the fist ones out. The big change has been ramp up.
