A few weeks after I moved to Franklin, Tennessee (from TX) I heard on the local news that a guy from Franklin had been arrested by a town cop for flashing his lights to warn other motorists of a speed trap. The basis of the charges was for interfering with a law officer in the line of duty.
He appealed all the way to the US Supreme Court on the basis that flashing his lights was an exercise of his freedom of speech. The Court agreed and charges were dropped.

I tried the "flashing your brights" method but all I got was a bunch of middle fingers :D Oh well, their loss.
