Escort 8500 or Bel V995?

I'm torn between these two models.. It may sound silly, but I just don't really like the way the 8500 looks.

Is the 8500 much superior in performance?

I might get one of the 8500 refurbs on ebay, but I see 995's second hand for about the same price in some places.

Help me decide..

8500 all the way. This IS Escort's cream of the crop dashmount RD IMHO.

The 8500 is much better on k band, but very close on ka. I vote 995. My 8500x-50 would overheat and stop working with no warning mounted on the winshield or dash in summer temps.

Well I went ahead and bought the 8500 refurb from ebay after reading all of the good feedback on this site about it.. Does anyone know how long they take to ship?

Give them 1 day to process and package and then however long it takes for UPS Ground to get to your area.

Go with the 8500, if you are actually buying a RD for looks start looking at the Cobras. FOR LOOKS, you must be joking, they are designed to detect radar.

I have a 9500ix and a refurb X50 and love them both. I actually like the look of my 8500 more than I like the ix. Very similar in detection with the X50 killing it in the K band range and the ix winning in the KA detection.

I agree with Fire, buy RD for how it works not how it looks!
