Hate to say it but you'll have to drive the PSL then. A radar detector cannot provide adequate protection against police laser. The only sure defense against laser is a laser jammer.

I understand that fully.....My eyes serve me well and I don't usually go more then 10 over on the hwy and usually do the limit in the city and neighborhoods etc.....I just don't want to contribute money to the extra tax collectors with the flashy lights if I can help it.....I'll take the risk of running without a jammer......Having a RD is better then nothing

Off axis, the M4 RX65s are well behind the V1, even on 35.5. Direct line of sight they RX65 is usually a couple of seconds behind. Go with the V1.

The awful off-axis performance is the main reason I'm getting ready to ditch my RX65.

Winner of laser detection using four different lidar guns

"That being stated, these results suggest that, especially in close-range laser encounters, the Valentine 1 is the top performing laser detector, by a wide-margin...

As good as the other three leading detectors are in their ability to see laser, Valentine Research has really achieved a level of performance that is simply remarkable."

"Of course, the Valentine remains the champ in laser detection by far and even though the Beltronics STi-R and Escort Passport 9500ci/ZR4 (a laser jammer also) turned in similar detection results, they did it with either multiple heads/transponders or were located more closely to the preferred targeting areas, as they are custom-installed remotes."

That's an excellent question. I would contact the GOL team to see if they remember. I can tell you this though - in the RD tests they do they put each detector in it's most unfiltered MODE, but I don't know if they change settings or not.

I would be willing to bet that the Ka guard was on during all of this testing. It seems like people wanting to turn off the Ka guard is a relatively new thing in the U.S. unlike in Europe where it is probably really needed.

And I would agree with you. Ka Guard Off is something new to the forum (well at least it wasn't here since Jan. 2008) because of the whole QT threat.

Thanks, but I wasn't talking to you. I was singling out the other two because I don't like New Jersey.
