    Default Lexan?

I have a Sti-R and the receiver is mounted in the lower grille of my 01 Jetta. I've hacked the center up messing around with trying for better reception. I had a wild thought I would replace the cut out section with 1/8in thick smoked lexan. Would anybody know if lexan blocks radar reception? I couldn't find anything online that was conclusive. Any thoughts?

It would be approx a 4inx4in section

Awesome! Thanks for the link. I got a 12x12 piece ordered and I'll try it out next week.

I would find a radar source and do my own testing. Buy a piece of smoked lexan and see what happens when you hold it in front of the detector. Then you really know what happens.

I have been working on mounting my V1 on top of my Excursion. I built a Box out of " smoked lexan" I have a radar (Hawk Kustom) that is K band. I did some test and found that it did not really have any effect on my V1. I am hoping to have this completed by this weekend.

Sounds like it may work then. In Idaho they chip seal the roads and my windshield and bumper have taken a beating. I dont want to risk my Sti-r getting cracked.

From what I could tell its pretty good to use for this type of project. I have looked but could find little and speaking to VR they are very guarded about what they tell you on the phone. I thought it would be easy just building a box but then I started to think of heat cold water etc. So I shall see how it works. My truck is high enough I am not really worried about theft and I really don't drive it any place where thats an issue. I am more curious what kind of reception I well get with it out in the open.

Whats the name of that stuff that they fell the cracks in car windows. Its a liquid at first then get hard. That might be a thought. Not sure how much you would need and cost.

FWIW, the grill in infront of my 9500ci had no effect on it's K band sensitivity, but it had a very noticable effect on Ka band.

Is keeping it in the cab not an option? I was thinking of getting a V1 and just placing it where I currently have my Whistler (see my signature).
