This should be an excellent device to test your window tint and how it affects the lockon range from in the car. Simply park, open the drivers window and shoot a distant target. As soon as you pick it up, pull the radar gun into the car and see if you still have lock. If not wait until you do and voila. Now you can calculate the attenuation caused by possible tint in your windows.

Very interesting. The range he quoted was very impressive for its size.

Unless you really need the size, the bushnell seems to be the much better bet ATM; but i suspect over time it'll end up like the bushnell, suggested retail way high, but in actuality available for sub $150

What is the deal with setting off Cobra radars with cheap radar guns? Even a cheap gun is gonna set off your own radar as well, no? Seems kinda dumb to me.

Well, a couple of instances I can think:

    1. You have someone in front of you with a RD. They aren't running fast enough, but they won't get over and are blocking the left lane. You can't get past so you fire the RD and they hit the brakes and move over to the right. Your path is now cleared.

    2. You see someone with an RD driving wrecklessly. Fire the gun and hopefully they suddenly become a little more courteous.

    3. The two above apply to all RDs. With Cobras.... I think the main reason people state is to mess with the owner, because the Cobras leak so much and cause other RD owners many headaches.
