    Default Laser only

Do you all think in near future it will all be laser and lidar so that out detectors won't do much good anymore?
    Thanks

    Nope.
As long as cops can drive around with constant on and stop people all day, radar will never die.

Curious on on what difference between the the 2 would be visually?

In my town the leo`s stand up on the side road with a tripod and look through the laser/radar?

Its black with a blue stripe going along the top?

Sorry for the silly question just trying to learn more about this topic.

    Thanks in advance

Laser is really hard to detect so a laser only detector wouldn't do any better than a radar detector with laser detection integrated in it like all the newer ones. If you are interested in laser only detection, I would consider a new whistler. They tell you what brand of gun is used to shoot you which is kinda nice just like the LI can do I guess.

With experience you will be able to tell very easily what is used. The easiest way is to see if the LEO actually looks right in the gun. If so, it is laser. If he uses a tripod, it is laser.

Laser "detectors" have virtually no real world usability.
If your detector goes off, the LEO almost always has your speed determined already because the beam is so narrow.

Now laser "shifters" are another story. I would much rather be hit with a laser gun with a shifter equipped car, than get hit with an instant on radar gun with a radar/laser detector equipped car. At least the shifter equipped car gives you a chance to slow down and turn off your shifter before the LEO can get a speed lock.
Our county now has mostly hand-held (no tripod) lasers.

Until they have a moving laser, radar will be king. With the new radar guns and modern digital electronics, they will perform like the MPH Ranger Ez K band which shows the distance of the speeder on the display. Expensive, but the cost will come down over time so watch out for better guns in the future, bad for us.....
