    Exclamation Why ONTARIO is different...

The followings apply to the Province of Ontario ONLY:

    - there is no X-band police radar anywhere in C/S/SW/SE Ontario where 98% of the population lives,

    - there is no photo-radar (speed cameras) province-wide,

    - b/c RDs have been illegal for maybe 30+ years now, you have better odds winning the $100M jackpot than having somebody with an RD around you on the road, and IF that happens, 101% it’s a Spectre-proof stealth RD like STI Driver/Magnum/STIR or Escort RedLine. NO COBRAS, WHISTLERS OR OTHER CHEAP RDs IN ONTARIO AND THEREFORE NO NEED FOR AN RDR-EQUIPPED RD,

    - IF you happen to live in Toronto, Canada’s largest city, Toronto Police uses Ka 33.8 MPH radar units on all their traffic cruisers (marked or unmarked) or H-D motorcycles, therefore NO NEED FOR AN RD WITH BAND SEGMENTATION (BS) IN TORONTO,

    - OPP (they patrol all hwys in C/S/SW/SE Ontario) uses K-band Decatur Genesis radar units,

    - some police forces (NOT Toronto Police) DO use RDDs in their cruisers,

    - b/c of total lack of RDs on Ontario roads, Ontario Cops (Municipal and OPP) don’t have the need to use I/O, C/O everywhere in Ontario,

    - there are no strict TINT laws in Ontario, that’s why you can see TONS of vehicles with LIMO tint all around, except the windshield of course,

    - IF you know all the “tricks” of the game, you can easily use a Spectre IV-proof stealth RD in Ontario for DECADES, as long as it cannot be seen from outside, that applies to LJs as well.

And now you see why the “rules of the game” widely discussed and never-allowed to be challenged in ANY RD forums out there, DO NOT APPLY TO ONTARIO AT ALL.

Oh, not to forget, for ALL IGNORANT “EXPERT” AMERICANS OUT THERE, do not give stupid advices when you have no clue on the question or subject discussed in a thread like this one for instance:

Entering Canada - Inspections - Escort Radar Forum

Q: "I know there have been previous threads, but none addressed my specific concern, which is the inspection booth procedures when entering Canada".

REAL A: In Canada, Canada Customs (border agents) at ANY U.S. – Canada border crossing have NO jurisdiction over traffic laws in ANY province, border agents do not enforce RD/LJ Laws in ANY Canadian Province, all they are interested in is drugs, illegal firearms and criminal activity/terrorism. You can show-up at ANY border crossing (from BC/WA to NB/ME) with ANY RD in full view in the windshield, or LJs in the front grill, THAT IS NOT ILLEGAL AT ANY BORDER CROSSING, no Canada Customs Border Agents is gonna confiscate your RD and/or LJ. That applies for Ontario as well, there are NO OPP officers at ANY ONT/MN/MI/NYS border crossings. LEGAL to cross the border from U.S. into Ontario with any RD and/or LJ.

That's the REAL answer that particular person should have gotten to his/her simple question and NOT the misinformation that followed then.

Sadly, IGNORANCE and MISINFORMATION is now a virtue in all RD forums out there.

    WELCOME TO CANADA

Have crossed the border back to Canada maybe 30+ times WITH my STI Driver mounted in the very same in-car location as I use it anywhere in Ontario or Toronto.

    Whatever...

    hey roadwarrior,

do you drive with your sti daily? i commute a lot in the gta and brampton/mississauga which is peel division and you stated that all their cruisers are equipped with rdd. so would you not recommend operating one? I only use it when i'm in the states, but would love to hear your thoughts on 401 usage, as i go to ottawa, montreal quite a bit.

As long as they don't see it with their own eyes, you'll be just fine.

    Good luck out there.

Not sure where your driving RW but a lot of your info is incorrect. The OPP do have Ka units. They've had them for at least 3 years. I was parked beside one of them on the DVP. I've also run across them on the 400.

The OPP use I/O regularly. My experience more then half the time.

The Toronto police have specialized traffic patrol units, just like peel and York with RDD's installed. Not that I care but they are out there.

Band segmentation is for exactly Toronto where the police only use one Ka band. Increases range on that one frequency. Again I don't care because they run C/O most of the time.

Dc2r. If you have an STI or similar stealth unit. Tint your windows and hard wire the unit somewhere out of sight. No RDD can pick you up.

My public info is in my signature, it's called MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL, if you don't know how to research a YT channel, not much I can do to help you out.

Any chance I can see YOUR local videos that will prove where you actually reside? Until then... whatever

I definitely have tints. Just no idea where to mount it to be concealed. How are those sun visor pocket mounts. I think I can run the hard wire up to that. And would you run a kill switch?

I drive a truck. Mines just hard wired and clipped to the pax visor. It's behind the tint strip. Very difficult to spot. I know others have used the pocket mounts and liked them. I don't have a kill switch. Never thought I needed one. I've had my sti I think for 6 years. Never had a problem. As for RDD. I've been parked beside Leo's (including the unmarked OPP cruiser running KA) with spectres. Never a peep. At first I was leery, now I don't give it a second thought.

RW, as hwybear stated there were no KA units at his detachment, not province wide. This site is for sharing information. Stop being arrogant and defensive. Your information was inaccurate and can easily be refuted using google.
