been away for a long time ,had been very happy with escort 9500ix intrnational here in nz.
Some slimebag stole it outside my work and now looking at a new purchase.
Will need gps fot marking and needs 34.7,35.5, as well as k band photo 24.080 redflex mb cameras.

whats best, looking at escort max,but want to know ifits better than the 9500 ix. cheers phil

Welcome back.
That's quite a hiatus you've taken since leaving the Forum not long after the passing of StealthStalker.
A lotta drama since then & now took place here, but hopefully it will all stay in the past.

Thieves are a problem world wide, maybe you should consider a Remote RD instead. However, the ER Max started out not so well & improvements (fixes) have been taking place. It's best to do some homework & reading before buying anything to quickly. Best to drive at PSL till you get protected fully, (Radar & Laser defense is needed nowadays).

Well, it's a long & sordid past about what happened around the time you left here to start a family. Actually, I'm walking on egg shells & need to exercise caution as there is in effect a truce amongst waring factions at the present time.

Many of the olde members have moved on & are gone for good, but many are still active elsewhere on other Forums. About the time you left a "Select Few" had enough of the drama happening here & departed to start a new Forum which thrived for years after a slow start. However, irony happened again b/c they failed to learn from history & repeated the mistakes practiced here for far to long . That caused yet another division of a tiny group 4 individuals (plus all Aussies) to say enough of this b.s. & became outspoken about it. This led to a series of member bannings which beget a 3rd Forum. The majority of mates from Oz are members of this new Forum as well as myself.

This Forum nearly died over the last few years but Radar Roy recently returned & is attempting to rescue it from years of neglect by the former Owners.

You asked the question & I've tried to give a broad overview but I will not say anymore about this. This is a Radar Detector thread & that should be the topic of discussion.

I'll 2nd that as I also believe that despite the past, this Forum should/deserves to survive...& even the one I'm no longer welcomed on ! There is still a wealth of great information here in the old Threads for those willing to take the time to read them...I do ! Hopefully, RD.net can attract new members w/ the talent to meet the challenges of the newer devices Mfgs are producing for LE to take more & more of income for the Gov't coffers.

p.s. - As you're likely to replace your stolen RD w/ another ER product...don't miss the reviews here from member "CJR238" he does for newer ER detectors.

@philnz , nice to see you posting again mate (welcome back from your boys in the USA) ..............Its been awhile as Red Rocket stated so eloquently above!!


For your uses in NZ/AU, there's currently two units ONLY that I would consider running: The Stinger VIP out of the Netherlands (very expensive) or for about $650 AUD you can get you a brand new 2015 Redline Pro A which allows for BOTh Ka and K band segmentation. They say its nearly as good as the Stinger for about 1/5 the price. Since you've been gone,the Redline is NOW (for the past two years) THE windshield detector to have. IT got new firmware since you've been gone and its really THAT good. Its like having an Stir-O on your windshield.

Look into the new Redline ProA just introduced. Its the Redline INternational Edition and does all you want and more for Multa Radar etc.
