Default radar detector for a delivery driver

I really want a radar detector since I'm a delivery driver for a pizza place, and because I of course need one anyway.

I live in the Tampa Bay area and have no idea what bands are mainly used.

I've already been lasered and pulled over once, and we have plenty of those "Your Current Speed Is" sheriff signs with cameras.

We also have the Red Light cams which I know only will harm me if I run a light.....

anyway, I've been doing some research on this site and reading other stuff on the manufacturers pages and I still can't decide which one is the best for me.

Here is what I'm looking for:

    1. Something I can use for a long time (maybe the V1 because of the upgrades)
    2. The best for the money (my job pays very well so I can wait a month to get the best)
    3. The most applicable one for where I live.

I drive a 1990 Honda Acord LX and I have %15 on all windows and maybe a %10-15 strip on the front.

I have my eyes on a few:

1.-------the V1 because it is upgradable, but I don't know if I should even bother since the rear detection may as well be useless with my tinted rear window.

    2.---The Escort X50

    3.---The Bel RX65

    Bel V995, E795, 895, 970, 985

    Whistler Pro 73, 1744(0 or C), 1630, 1730, 1793, 895, 970, 985

and the supposedly crappy Cobra 9700

here are some more which are soon to come out that I don't know very much about

    --STI, XTR series.

so basically I don't know if I should even bother to wait for the STI or the XTRs, or if I should just get the V1 or #2 or #3, or any of the others.

Also if you suggest the V1, I would also like to know what would be the best and cheapest backup for my area.

-EDIT- damn maybe I should just wait for this thing http://www.whistlergroup.com/fuzion-spec.html

Thank you for you time and help!

What ever you buy, don't leave it in the car, Tampa theft sucks. Cars sitting next to the police station down in Ybor get broken into nightly. At least thats how things were back when I was up there. You know a city is bad when a homeless person starts to shoot the **** with you while your trying to pump gasoline and the bumb says, yeah, Tampa sucks, thats why when I got out of Jail there I move to Ft. Lauderdale "Its much nicer here."

Your tinted windows will not effect radar, they would effect the laser in the rear but the chances of anyone picking up laser from the rear is slim to none!!!

OK you need to figure out what you want and whats most important to you!!!

The V1 I say it is the best, of course I am a V1 zombie, but heres why i say that!!

    1. Arrows and bogey counter! The arrows tell you what direstion the radar is coming from, and with the arrows you need the bogey counter, this combination of the 2 is the most useful information anyone whats, cause when you start picking up something you slow down and then your like where the hell is he, is he behind me or infront of me???? I dont know???

Well I dont know does not cut it for the other V1 users on this board!!

Now a lot of people wil tell you it falses a lot, and what they are talking about is you getting a Xband or Kband threat from a door opener. Now this drives me to ask what is a false, because if you say a door opener is a false then radar is a false because those door openers use radar and thats something that NO ONE can get around!!! Now what I will say is a false is you picking up Ka band from another junk detector.

There are a lot of reasons to pick a V1, I am saying that yeah the X50 is a good detector and the RX65 is a ok detector but the V1 gives you so much more info about what and where you just cant beat that, info is what will save you a$$!!!

Oh x2 on dont leave a detector out in visible view, it will get stolen!!

99% of V1 users will say, once you get arrows you will never go back!!!!

    I live in Tampa too.

Get the V1. It's helpful in picking out the difference between the K band signs on bayshore and a cop hiding under the usual false (bogey counter). The arrows are also invaluable. I always, ALWAYS stick my V1 in my pocket when I leave my car. I have had an old 1.7 V1 stolen when I left my car for 5 minutes (locked) and I have since learned my lesson. Tampa theft does suck. Bad.

We have red light cameras? News to me! Where, what intersections?

I would go for a V1. Or possibly a remote unit so you don't have to worry about theft issues. I am assuming you leave your car running on each delivery and probably unlocked....

The 995 might be a good one for you. It has almost all of the features of the RX65 plus is only $269. The main feature it's lacking is USA mode KA, but given some of the posts about Florida radars way outta tune, I probably wouldn't use it down there anyways.
