    Default FL Freq.

anyone able to list the popular FL freq by city\county?

is it difficult to get the local freq. somehow without having to do some serious research?

what are the methods of capturing a freq. in a town\county that the local LEOs are using?

    thx in advance

The website that was in the first reply, is the single best resource for finding this information for a city or county in the US. Sometimes you may find another website that covers a specific area in more detail. There's some others for Florida areas like Tampa Bay, or the Orlando/East Coast area, but you don't mention your location in your post.

Unlike businesses and other users who might be operating unlicensed, or have a license under a different name, it's typically pretty straight forward to find local, city, county, and state government entities licence data in the FCC database. Usually the trick is figuring out which frequency is used by which group (PD, FD, other govt.) and in the case of a trunked system, which talkgroups belong to which users.

Figuring this out, and capturing this data can be done by patient monitoring and logging of details, visual observation, and asking questions or research. Looking at the size and number of antennas on a car can yield clues, as well as the type of radio carried or installed. Most all scanners have a search feature for searching between a low and high limit. You can use the squelch and antenna options to limit what you will hear to signals that are very strong, and probably local to you.

Some scanners have a "Close Call" or "Signal Stalker" feature that also locks onto close by strong signals, and can help you figure out what's being used.

found that, now can you give me a brief or detailed if you would like..on how to use the hex and decimal freq it gives and\or how to program those specific trunked freq.s? i just got a pro-97

also, what would be a good antenna to put on my new pro-97 that will help with my florida freq's?

Your scanner will work for the Citrus county trunked system.

Program the freqs into a bank that you have setup as a MOTorola system.
Enter each freq as a MOTorola freqs.
Then enter the DEC talk groups you want to hear.
Mark the bank as CLOSED and scan the ID's.

Easier to understand directions for the Pro-97 are here.

The second system you listed, the State of Florida system, is encrypted, and no scanner currently available will allow you to monitor it.

even though it says provoice and analog?

what on that page makes you say it's unavailable for me to pickup? so i know what i can't get in the future

i just programed ONE of the red freq's into bank 1 (856.93750*)

then what i did was put those decimal #s under bank 1-0<-- (the 0 i'm assuming is "location id"? not sure why it's called "location ID" but whatever lol

    DEC HEX
    3440 0d7 A Sheriff - East
    3472 0d9 A Sheriff - West & Crystal River P.D.
3504 0db A Beverly Hills Police / Community Patrol / Pine Ridge / Crystal River
    3696 0e7 A Sheriff Control
    3856 0f1 A Sheriff - Surveillance
    4496 119 A Warrant Service
    4976 137 A Sheriff
    5296 14b A Sheriff

for each TGID#, i did one decimal # and went up till like 7 or 8...is this right?

if this is correct how do i combine 2 counties together into one bank? with 2 primary (RED) freq's? just put them in there? should i put all of the listed freq's in the bank?

So the system is a EA system "extended addressing" with ESK. The system is completely built out for both analog and digital operation. They just use the digital portion which is provoice with DES encryption over it full time.
ESK keeps a scanner than can track an EDACS trunked system, from being able to track a system running ESK on the control channels.

DES encryption, used full time, keeps any scanner from monitoring the system.

can you help me on the rest of my last post?

i don't know what to do with the charts on this page.

    http://www.radioreference.com/module...ame=RR&sid=765

specifically the last chart, do i enter the decimal in as a TGID in one of the bank locations? (IE: bank 1 location 0-4?)
