I know nothing about scanners, but anyway that I could use one in my car without being caught with it? Like have a kill switch to shut off the power if I ever got caught with it in my car? What is a good cheap scanner to use as well?

There is no way to detect scanners so you'll be fine as long as they don't
see the scanner. I'd highly recommend a Uniden BC246T.
This is a portable scanner so you don't have to mount it
any where.

You shouldn't have a problem justin.
In my state If you get you HAM radio license you can have a scanner in your car with no problems. But it is illegal to have one if you don't have your HAM radio license.
I dont know if its the same in KY?
It's illegal to have it in the car. I've asked a Kentucky cop before about it.
