Anyone out there with a BCT-8 that is using the antenna it is provided with... the wire antenna? How is the performance on this wire antenna?

Thanks I see what you are saying as to attaching the lip mount to the hatch in the rear of corvette. I will look into this but if they have the Antenna Specialist Mon-51 antenna and the lip mount works then that's my antenna to use. I already use the Mon51 on a magnetic mount and the reception is SUPERB!!Originally Posted by crazyVOLVOrob
As far as attaching antenna to side passenger or drivers window I wouldn't do that because it has indexed windows and by having an antenna there will will break the seal and create more wind noise and perhaps water leaks. But I don't want to mess around with these indexed windows.
Now I'm wondernig how good the wire antenna works that comes with the BCT-8 probably not as good as these other external mobile antennas that are larger and mounted higher outside the Corvette.
Sounds like a winner but Do you have any pictures of this set-up on a C-6 corvette or any Corvette?Originally Posted by crazyVOLVOrob
ruining the apperace should be the least of your worries, i mean huge 4-5 foot antenas are not the pretiest looking beasts anyways.
Well the BCT-8 comes with two antennas one telescope for base and a wire antenna for mobil which would be the logical choice.Originally Posted by Eddieth3king

I have been into scanners for about 35 years now...you really dont need a ant. on the vette its all fiberglass and this does not interfear with the reception a basic hand held bearcat would work fine

I am using a Wilson 800 antenna on a handheld. Seems to work ok.
I was under the impression that you needed an NGP antenna to have decent reception. What is the trunk clip antenna mentioned previously? Would that work...it seems there would be no ground?
I agree window mounts with indexed windows (esp at speed) are not a good idea.
I'm really confused. I need to get this purchase in hand by Thursday.
I will be buying this head unit. Midland 75-822
