very nice..goes to show you can't beat an S7 8500 for the $$!! :Banane42:
thanks for the props guys!! :thumb2:
this has to be my best oddball encounter with it. because for some reason i never see cops clocking people. they may be sitting on the side of the road but...
this morning i was sitting at mcdonalds drive thru and just before i pull up to the window my 8500 starts going off on K-band what the town cops use. it went off for 10 seconds before i saw the cop...
NICE SAVE!!! gotta love the long range detection. was he facing opposite the flow of traffic or with it?
welcome!! i am also from the upstate greenville area. I live in williamston so i am in simpsonville some. good info on the X-band pickup. I have been debating on whether to keep X on or off.
mine has done the same. I can drive past a store with a K-band door opener and it will go off and coming back the opposite way it won't. I usually drive past a new medical center that has K-band...
a radar detector usually works best when it's turned on. except for cobras which work the same whether on or off.
lol yea i'm like you..i wish i could take pics of it. I saw a guy with a lexus with a V1 and it was mounted on the driver side just over the guage cluster on the W/S. Not that it's the worst...
I see a lot of people turn the SWS off. Does SWS interfere with radar detection like POP mode? If so can it be turned off on the 8500?
Also...call me crazy, but I swear it seems like my 8500...
how is that even possible with the V1 mount?[/QUOTE]
you would be surprised. These are the type of people that could break an anvil with a rubber mallet.
I agree with the rating system comment. Each brand should be rated in order price vs. performance. This would make it easier for newcomers to navigate and make a better decision.
ah i see... i think i will just keep it on spec mode. seems to make more sense.
that is probably what it was. detectors don't like each other and battle it out when run at the same time. performance of both can go down if run at the same time. :fight:
what is ghosting?
i've picked up 24.166 and 24.172 k-band door openers...so it's really a tossup to whether its real or false. so it would probably be best to just slow down til it passes for K-band.
well with both encounters the vehicles were sitting still. the LEO was using rear radar only. it did go to 2 bars when i got close to him. but at the same token..i encountered a K-band city cop and...
I have been switching between spec and expert mode on my 8500 and i thought expert mode would alert to two separate K and Ka if there were two present..correct? well...i passed ONE trooper running Ka...
LOL!! they should include these directions in the cobra and RMR owners manual.....
For maximum performance position your detector down toward the car's hood to maximize the reflection properties...
if you like the V1 and you have the cash for it then i would buy the V1. It comes with the hardwire setup. Me personally I think the concealed display is overrated unless you HAVE to place the...
I too saw a guy last week that had a Bel mounted above RVM and hardwired.. I was like  i didn't think anyone but me knew about such a thing in my area.
I was out on my deliveries at work today and saw a guy in a pickup go by me with an RMR stuck right dead center of the W/S pointing down at the hood!!
i've never been sure on this myself...does it just filter X-band? Because I have heard others on here mention that it can lower sensitivity on K and Ka as well.
^^^ i think dpatel01's avatar says it all about this thread lol
nice!!
It picks up LEO's who run their radar upside down. Get with it, didn't you know. Everyone's running their RD's upside down these days. Someone with a Cobra started the trend. Of course they also...
