Well I've got the STI and love it but just like anything else in the world I always want more.
I was looking around a couple of nights ago at Radar detector reviews and realized the Cobra can...
This is how I did it FWIW.
Pinch the red wire under the fuse for your radio (you may want to use an inline fuse if there isn't one already with the hard wire kit).
Connect the black wire to a...
Take if from a Canuck.
Get the STI. Not only is it a great detector you'll feel much much more comfortable not having to be all paranoid switching off a dectable unit.
I'm bad I leave my STI...
How does the device work? Any English text I could read?
Nope the signal door openers use is much weaker only about 20% as strong a real Kband. Thats normal.
Back to the Thread.
If the STI calibrates off Xband and I have Xband shutoff will my unit...
Take your V1 and your STI out to Home Depot or Walmart or wherever they use Kband door openers and compare the range. Should give you a pretty good idea about its operation.
Yes please post pics and a link I'm interested too.
Is response to the thread where the guy had his STI detected in Ontario.
Its possible he bought it off ebay. You think maybe he got ripped off? :D
...
With people like that around it just makes it that much safer for the rest of us. Ever wonder why so many high school drop outs end up in prison? Is it because they have limitted opportunities? ...
You win. Just stop using my suggested strategy and claiming it doesn't work.
Hey RoadWarrior? What gives on the 13'th you describe a situation where you use the exact strategy that I suggested and on the 16th you're still argueing that it couldn't work??!!  ...
I'd eat the ticket in those situations. Can't win em all! In my experience (Not Toronto) its about 50-50 and half the time there would be no other option but to eat the ticket but half the time...
We all know that laser range used by cops is max 1000 ft (300 m)... if the case you're talking about is for a city street: 1) they never chose a location where people can turn right or left, to a...
Point is a warning is a warning and it buys you time. Time buys you options. I like options. Perhaps the suggested options may or may not work in every situation but they do afford you some...
I have turned down a side street before when hit with laser.
Here in scarborough not all cops use "(military style)" to make sure u have no place to turn...
I myself would cut a rad hose...
How about in the situation when you get the alert, he gets the lock and he knows you're speeding but you decide to visit an old friend and turn down a side street before you reach the laser check...
*cough* Not us the the Americans. We're lucky if we get to send one Canadian to Florida so the Americans can send him to the moon.
Australians and Kiwis you guys are all the same too. J/K man.
X2 the OPP really don't like to have one done over on em! Besides the OPP is like what? The 4th largest police force in North America? Budget really isn't a concern for them. They WILL spend...
hard wiring is so very very very easy I wouldn't worry about finding a shop. Besides the fewer that know the better. People have a way of talking. When you get the unit do a search on here and...
Nope no alert from the STI but thats only because of my choice of mounting locations. It can't "see" the road so I can't comment either way on the effectiveness of its laser detection.
uhh I see your point.
I must say this has been one of my most enjoyable summers of driving in Ontario and its entirely due to the STI and the M-20's.
Now the reason why the ban in Ontario is good.
The LEO's around...
Uhh ya think?
What police force is that? Or is it their own police force?
I don't know the specifics of this situation but I've been stopped by the OPP in a similar situation. It was dusk and I was GUILTY of speeding (excessively). I was in my early 20's riding one of...
