See above bolded. Srtga HAS had his tested and still JTG. I hope you are not correct but I will be finding out shortly. Thank you for your thoughts though. Oh and I also didn't sacrifice any performance by mounting them set back in at all. The heads do stick out so hopefully I will perform alright. The alternative is not pretty at all, although I will do it if necessary as my $1k system that doesn't function is no good no matter how stealth it looks.
Oh, they definitely don't look set back too far. That looks fine. But you are WAY low there. About seventy-five percent of your car is above the heads. The way cops shoot (as opposed to the way hobbyists shoot), that's playing Russian Roulette. You need everything to be as perfect as you can get it for consistent protection.
I would move those heads up.Depending on some of the shots you will get from Leos.i can see PT happening here.
I guess I used the wrong verbage in what I was trying to say so here goes. I will attempt to shoot the car in all of its weak spots and see if I get ANY PT. Then depending on the severity make a judgement call on whether to move them up or not.
I realize your point that a LIDAR ticket with jammers on would suck! BUT you have to weigh the costs and benefits and decide if it is worth the slight difference in protection (I hope) to ruin the looks of a beautiful front end. First off I have only been tagged with laser 3 times, I also do not drive on the intersate save for a special trip(s). My daily commute is around town where laser is a zero threat. So that being said if I can get good coverage with minimal PT at close distance then I am happy. If however I am getting PT more often than not I will certainly move the heads up some.
I guess my point is that we are all speculationg that the heads are to low for good results. I can agree that on paper they are to low and should be raised up. NONE of this matters though until I get the setup tested and find out what the actual results are! I won't care if I get PT at 60 feet away and we have been shooting every inch of the car since 2000' out trying to get a reading. When I get an alert on the interstates I slam the [explicitive] brakes on in case it is I/O. I am not complacent at all and am always scanning the roadway, if I get hit with laser I will do the same and be under the PSL with jammers off before PT is an issue.
Stealth you seem like a very knowledgeable person but also a REALLY opinionated person as well. Lets wait to see what the test results come up with and then we can decide on ugly placement!
Thank you for all the feedback though even if you are a bit combative! Haha
I'm not combative. I'm frustrated. I'm tired of everyone coming here thinking that THEIR CAR is so very special that it can defy the laws of physics, where no other car has succeeded in doing so. Tired of people who think that my years of testing hundreds of set-ups with every gun ever made means nothing, and that I can't possibly know what I'm talking about. Tired of people assuming that, if I don't lie to them and blow smoke up their arse about their crappy set-up, that I am somehow being mean to them or trying to mislead them. At least at work, when I give someone medical advice -- which THEY came to me and asked for -- and they decide that they're not going to follow it, I still get paid. Here, I just get spit on for trying to help. It gets really old, Bro.
I've tested a car EXACTLY like yours, with the same installation, and it was immediate, epic fail. End of story.
Do what you want. It makes no difference to me if you get a ticket and end up spending more on the consequences than the jammer cost you in the first place. Heck, the more tickets cops write, the less taxes I have to pay, so it's fine with me. Just remember that, when it happens, LI didn't fail. You failed.
Good luck!
I will be the first to admit that I am a LJ noob and only know what little I have learned here and a few other resources. I have never tested a setup and this will be my first. I appreciate your feedback and didn't realize you had so much experience.
That is one of the problems with an online forum, you have to wiegh the bs opinions and weed them out to draw conclusions. There have been more than a few people say nice setup and that is all in this thread. I also (not knowing your experience levels or theirs only knowing post count) have to weigh their opinions as well. As a rational human being you can infer that I, again not knowing any of the members personnally, would be somewhat dissagreeable and want proof before hacking up my bumper. Also srtga who has the same car has his mounted in the same spot and I have watched videos with his setup succeeding...You can see why I may have trouble deciding whom to believe.
I can understand your frustration as the other forums, where I have been around much longer, I am the same way. It gets tiring saying the same thing over and over...
I appreciate your legitimate concern enough to tell me though, I am not looking for "smoke up my arse" as you so elequently put it, but helpful input such as yours. If you don't mind could you show me the spot you believe to be most effective for my application?
Again thank you for all the helpful input, I am learning but certainly don't know it all quite yet!

Thanks for the understanding, Bro. I appreciate it. Sorry I get so frustrated. And trust me, I came here with the same scepticism and stepped on some toes, so I know the position you are in. Just believe that I am trying to help you out!
That is where I would put them. Maybe even a little lower. They would look perfectly stock there like that, done right. It's a seven year old car, and I don't expect you intend to get rid of it anytime soon, or you wouldn't be putting a jammer on it, right? Grilles are cheap. Even that one. A lot cheaper than a ticket. You just spent serious money on a beautiful countermeasure set-up. I just don't want to see your money wasted. Demand the best out of it!
If someone shoots your current set-up and doesn't instantly pwn you, they simply don't know how to shoot. And that explains probably more than half of the jammer videos on YouTube.
