Lights Off and Clocking

Last night I was hit by a Local Sheriff with Instant On. He was sitting in the dark with his lights completely off blasting cars one by one with instant on K. I was told years ago that they have to have their parking lights on or some form of light to issue a ticket. Is this true or just another rumor like the Officer must be wearing his hat rumor. thanks

By the way, He was flipping his gun on so much that I picked him up from 2 miles away !!!!! That's great for Instant On..... Most officers wait awhile before flipping the gun back on. He must had been trigger happy.

I heard somewhere that they have to be in plain sight, but nothing about the lights

I would say he was well hidden. I didn't even see him til I was right up on him. He was using the cover of night to hide. If I had not had a detector, I doubt I would have ever knew he was there.

I see this literally every week on my route home, a sheriff sits near the top of an on ramp and snipes traffic going by with instant on K band ------ he's really fricken good too I see him way more then I'm alerted by my detector and I'm always like "son of a".

He's blacked out from the front but he's got the rear light bar in the back going so people getting onto the ramp can see him and there is room to get around him.

Anytime I see a trooper or sheriff in the median of the express way I'm on at night they are blacked out completely unless they are doing paper work ------ talking on the phone ------ don't give a crap and leave their radar on full blast ------ when they want to write tickets its always instant on.

I have never heard from a reliable source that police have to have their parking lights on at night. If they do, that would have to do with being in compliance with the law that everyone else has to follow. It is not true that police have to be visible. There may be laws on the books in some states that exempt police from having to have their parking lights on.

The myth is that police have to be visible while working traffic, or another words, running radar/laser. If they are not visible it is entrapment. That is false. That is not entrapment. I only mentioned the entrapment part because there are a lot of people out there that believe that. Not necessarily members on this board though, more for the benefit of visitors.
